I. Pre-task preparation Free talk about the birthday present Show some pictures of birthday presents to introduce the word present. Then ask the students what presents they want for their birthdays. e.g., T: (Show a scarf) Look, it’s a scarf. It’s my birthday present. What presents do you want for your birthdays this year 展示不同生日作介绍,学生通过表达自己想得到的生日礼物,引入生日这一主题。
II. While-task procedure 1. Read a story P5 2. Get to know the story 1. Have the students look at the pictures for ‘Read a story’ on page 5 of the Student’s Book and answer some questions about the pictures. e.g., T: (point to picture1) What can you see in the picture S1: I can see a man, a boy and some hats. T: (point to picture 2) Is the boy happy or sad S1: He’s sad. 1. Stick the four pictures for the story on page 5 of Student’s Book at random on the blackboard. Have the students listen to the recording for the story. Then ask the students to put the pictures in the correct order. Have the students read the story on page 5 of the Student’s Book. Then ask them to answer some questions to check their understanding. e.g., What does Mr Hatter do When is Tommy’s birthday Why is Tommy sad What is Tommy’s birthday present Explain the meaning of the new words late and smart to the students. Have the students talk about the story in groups. Give them some questions for discussion. Then invite several groups to give a report in front of the class. e.g., Tommy is sad at first. Why Does Tommy’s father love him How do you know How does Tommy feel on his birthday Why 视听问答,学生由生动的画面陪上英语旁白了解故事大概,老师的提问有助于学生对课文的了解。 了解故事大概后再一次视听,给打乱的图片排序,对于薄弱学生提供了再次理解课文内容的机会。 向学生呈现课文内容,熟读,回答更多问题,让学生自我检查对课文了解程度。
