You are going to write about a celebration event that you have had before. Discuss with your partner.

Read the description. Check your predictions.

The writer made a video of Grandpa’s life story for him.
The event made Grandpa very excited. He said it was a “wonderful birthday celebration” and that he was “looking forward to my eightieth, ninetieth and even one hundredth birthdays already!”

Adverb of Time
时间副词,尤其是表示具体时间的副词,一般位于句首或句尾,某些这类词有时也可位于句中。常用的时间副词有:finally, yet,still,now,soon,lately,shortly,then, recently,presently,already,before,early,late,today等。
例句:
I couldn’t go shopping yesterday so I’ll have to go today.
我昨天没能去购物,所以今天我必须去。
Recently, though, she seems to have run out of energy.
然而,最近她好像已经精疲力竭了。
She was then teaching in a middle school.
她当时在一所中学教书。
英语中有相当多的表示情感、意愿的副词。常用的此类副词有:gladly,happily,warmly,gratefully,proudly,excitedly,calmly,shyly,nervously,sadly,desperately,luckily,fortunately,unfortunately等。这类副词一般放在动词之后,有时也可以放在句首。
例句:
She smiled at me gratefully.
她感激地对我笑了笑。
“My best friend is leaving,” she said sadly.
“我最好的朋友要走了,”她伤心地说。
Luckily, the museum was not damaged in the earthquake.
