' No, Dad!' It was the first time I had ever talked to him that way, and he had a49look on his face, and his eyes started to tear. At the moment, the tears began to50up in his eyes. “It wasn't long51that when my Dad went to sea and never came back…Guys, I wished Dad gave me just one more kiss, to feel his rough old face…… to smell the ocean on him…. ? ? ?Man tends to climb high up and see far.?
? ? ?I felt an urge to explore the world and pursue my unknown dreams the moment I was able to climb up the tree growing just by a roll of wall near my house. When no mate played with me, I would climb it and sit on the top to see the scenery outside of the wall. You may ask me, what I had seen. Telling you the truth, there was nothing special. Outside of the wall was just a big vast farmland with green plants. Sitting on it, I saw flying birds catching insects, heard the sound of crickets, smelt the breath of greens, enjoyed the scene of seeding and harvesting, and counted the stars at night. They were quite simple and natural, but I strongly felt there was something unspeakable at that time. I could sense the tree was whispering me to go out to explore the world with my own feet and legs, and feel the world with my own heart.
? ? ?As time goes by, the tree disappears, and I am not a small boy anymore. The sky is not as blue and crystal as before; the green become less and less; the singing of the lovely birds is hard to catch. Living in the hazy and buzzy city, I often miss that a trace of peace and nature on the top of the tree rooted in my heart. Faced with fierce competitions and challenges, cold eyes, and dark sides of society, daily troubles, they automatically approach me like invisible angels making me calm and relieved, and endowing me confidence and power.?

What will man be like in the future—in 5,000 or even 50,000 years from now? We can only make guesses, of course, but we can be sure that he will be different from what he is today, for man is slowly changing all the time.
Let us take an obvious example. Man, even from hundreds years ago, was shorter than he is today. Now, on average, men are about three inches taller. So we may assume that man will continue to grow taller. Again, in the modern world, we use our brains a great deal. Even so, we still make use of only about 20% of the brain’s capacity. This is likely to bring about a physical change too: the head, in particular the forehead, will grow larger.
Nowadays, our eyes are in constant use. In fact, we use them so much that very often they become weaker and we have to wear glasses. But over a very long period of time, it is likely that man’s eyes will grow stronger.
On the other hand, we tend to make less use of our arms and legs. These, as a result, are likely to grow weaker. At the same time, however, our fingers will grow more sensitive because they are used a great deal in modern life.
But what about hair? This will probably disappear from the body altogether in course of time because it does not serve a useful purpose any longer. In the future, then, both sexes are likely to be bald.
Perhaps all this gives the impression that future man will not be very attractive creature to look at! This may well be true. All the same, in spite of all these changes, future man will still have a lot in common with us. He will still be a human being, with thoughts and emotions similar to our own.
69. What serves as the evidence(证据) that man is changing?
Man has got stronger eyes now than he ever had
Man’s hair is getting thinner and thinner
Man’s arms and legs have become lighter and weaker
Man has been growing taller over the past 500 years
70. The change in man’s size of forehead will probably happen because___ A. he makes use of only 20% of the brain’s capacity
B. his brain has grown larger over the past centuries
C. the other 80% of his brain will grow in due time
D. he will use his brain more and more as time goes on
71. What will be true about a human being in the future?
A. He will be hairless because hair is no longer useful
B. He will have smaller eyes and will wear better glasses
C. His fingers will grow weaker because he won’t have to make use of them
D. He will think and feel in a different way
72. It is implied that ___
A. human beings will become less attractive in the future
B. less use of bodily organ may lead to its degeneration (退化)
C. human beings hope for a change in the future life
D. future life is always predictable
D
While it's true that we all have the same amount of time in each day, there are ways we can better use the time we have to make it feel like we have more of it. ?Here are 6 tips that you can use to get more time out of your day – and get more time on your side as a result.
? ? 1. Check email less
Email is one of the greatest time sucks that we have coming at us every day of the week. Set some standards to live by with your email management and you'll find you'll have more hours to live with in the end.
 2. Plan the night before
Take some time the night before – or even at the end of your work day – to map out what you plan to do the next day.?
3. _______________________
If you're an early riser, great. If you're a night owl(鹰), that's fine. Just don't try to change that unless you absolutely have to for reasons that can't be avoided. Go with the flow on this one – you'll be better off for it and so will your work.
  4. Eat less and eat well – but eat more frequently
? ? Breakfast, lunch and dinner are key meals to have every day, and you need to eat breakfast well, but a bit less in lunch and dinner. And if it is not enough, try to eat a little bit frequently during the time. Of course, you need to eat well.?
? ? 5. Stay hydrated
Drink plenty of water. Keep a water bottle nearby and try to drink water that isn't ice cold – the body has an easier time dealing with it that way. Tea is also great if you need a break from the mundane(平常的?), but remember to limit the caffeine intake – some teas contain much of it.
These 5 tips may seem simple enough, but they are not so simple to maintain. But if you keep at it and keep your eyes on the prize – which is more time for you to do what you really want – then you'll find that sticking to them is time well spent.

? ? ?A. students ? ? ? B. teachers ? ? ? C. white-collars ? ? ? D. officers?

If you compare a chimpanzee’s (大猩猩) bones with those of a modern human, one difference will immediately jump out at you. Chimp bones are densely(稠密的) packed with microscopic structures known as spongy(海绵的,有弹性的) bone. Human bones aren’t. That relative lack of spongy bone makes our skeletons lighter and increases our risk of fractures(骨折) and osteoporosis(骨质疏松). But weaker skeletons and more broken bones don’t seem like great evolutionary strategies.
So why the change? Two papers published online today in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences?propose an explanation. In the first, they compare skeletons form modern chimpanzees, the early human ancestor?Australopithecus africanus, Neandertals, early?Homo sapiens, and today’s modern humans. They found that?chimpanzees,?Australopithecus, Neandertals, and even the early modern humans had much higher densities of spongy bone than today’s humans. That suggests that the driving force behind the change might be modern human’s sedentary lifestyle, free of the bone-strengthening exercise of chasing the prey(猎物)and spending hours in search of food. The second paper further supports that hypothesis(假说) by comparing the density of spongy bone in the hip joints of nonhuman primates(灵长类动物),ancient hunter-gatherers, and ancient farmers.?The hunter-gatherers’ hip (臀部) joints were about as strong as those of the apes(猿人), however, the ancient farmers’ hips showed a significant loss of spongy bone. The researchers conclude that a lack of necessary exercise, rather than any evolutionary pressure toward lighter skeletons, is the reason for modern human’s weak bones. So if you want a stronger skeleton, start exercising like a hunter-gatherer.
77. Which is not the feature of the chimpanzee’s bone compared with human beings?
Spongy B. densely C. loose D. stronger
78. According to the passage what the meaning of the underlined word “sedentary” ?
A. Often taking exercises B. sitting for a long time without moving
C. bone-strengthening exercises D. active
79. According to the two papers, match the pictures with the right numbers.
A. 1-B; 2-C; 3-D 4-A B. 1-C; 2-D; 3-B; 4-A
C. 1-A; 2-D; 3-B; 4-C D. 1-A; 2-B; 3-D; 4-C
1(chimpanzees) 2(Australopithecus) 3(Neandertals) 4(modern mans)

A B C D
80. What can we infer from the research?
A. The human becomes stronger and stronger
B. Chimpanzees are smarter than humans
C. Physical exercises can help people reduce the risk of fracture and osteoporosis. D. The evolutionary pressure drives the human bone structure lighter than before.
