M: Hi, everyone. I’m going to talk to you today about a really interesting project I took part in this summer. It’s an event called One Day Clean-up and its aim is to clear the world’s natural environment of the rubbish. Everyone in my team was very friendly. Pretty much everyone on my team is planning to go to university next year or the year after. One or two people are hoping to study medicine but most of us actually want to do geography. Oh, and a couple are planning to do zoology.
You’d be amazed at how much rubbish there was. In just three hours we collected 179 kilos. The team who collected the most rubbish collected 187 kilos. The other teams collected a bit less each -but only 2 or 3 kilos less.
I must admit I thought it would be quite an unpleasant job picking up lots of rubbish, but it actually turned out to be the other way round.
At the end of the day we had a talk about the importance of the work we’d been doing.I was amazed when they said that rubbish in the seas kills over 1,000,000 seabirds every year.
I’d really recommend anyone to join us next year.I’ll certainly be there again
