The analysis of teaching material 本单元是第二课时reading部分,是一个单元的中心,起着承上启下的作用,integrated skills 和main task都是围绕reading展开的内容。该篇主要从时间,庆祝方式等方面对“万圣节”进行相关的介绍,作为Reading的第一课时,一是要求学生在情景教学和任务型教学指引下,掌握基本单词和词组,扫清阅读障碍;引导学生通读全文,通过提问找出文章关键词和要点,宏观把握整体文章结构;通过跳读,扫读和精读,培养学生的阅读能力,总结文章大意以及作者写作意图。二是通过对万圣节的相关介绍,了解不同国家节日的庆祝方式,培养跨文化意识的理解和深刻的爱国主义情怀,提升学生的世界观和价值观,成为一名热爱生活,享受生活和学习的人。所以这篇课文为学生提供了与单元中心任务和语法知识密切相关的阅读资料。
The analysis of the students 本单元的话题为Let’s celebrate ,着重介绍“节日的名称,时间以及庆祝方式”等,为了更清晰地介绍某个中外节日,教材在该单元的Welcome to the unit中向学生呈现了多个中外节目,从语言知识的角度看,难度并不很大,但由于学生们在英语学习过程中重视语言积累匮乏,在学习中存在一定的难度。在日常生活中学生对万圣节的了解不多,对该节日的认知大多停留在制作南瓜灯这个活动上,甚至对于大部分同学来说几乎是陌生的,而对于其他的活动,知道的学生可能寥寥无几。所以正因为这样,学生会对本节课的教学内容感到新鲜有趣,同时又有陌生感。因此教师应该在介绍万圣节庆祝方式时利用相关录像或者图片帮助学生增加形象记忆,从而更好地掌握该节课内容,加深学生对相关知识的理解。
Teaching objectives Knowledge objectives:By the end of the lesson, students are expected to: 1.master some new words such as paint, inside, knock, shout, special ...some new phrases such as knock on the door, dress up, and give...as a treat 2.read the article fluently and get detailed information about Halloween.Ability objectives:By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:1. develop skills of skimming, scanning and intensive reading strategy including reading for detailed information through reading practice.2. Introduce their favorite festival.Emotion objectives:After reading this passage, students are expected to cultivate cultural awareness and respect different culture.

Step 1. Lead- in(3minutes) play a guessing game to revise some festivalsplay a video about Halloween . ( this is Halloween) 1.Race to guess the festival according to the pictures. 2. Watch the video To arouse the students’ interest through the guessing game and help students review what they learnt in last lesson. By the way, lead in the topic about Halloween.
Step2 Pre-reading (7minutes) 1.Free -talk: A question: What do people usually do on that day 2. Present some new words with some pictures.3.Word games: Who has the best memory. 1. Work in groups. Try to think about the question and share their ideas.2.Learn the new words in a specify situationRace to read out the words. ①To help students to think actively and cooperate to solve the problem.②To help students to master the new words better. And overcome the barriers in reading.③ Help students to consolidate.
Step3. While –reading(15minutes) ① Skimming Task 1 read the letter as quick as you can and answer three Qs:1. Who writes this letter 2. When is Halloween 3.Are people happy on that day (Tell the students not to read all the letter, just read the beginning and the ending.)②scanningTask 2 Read and tell T or F(Page 59B2)(Tell students to read and find out the key words)Task 3: Read and fill in blank.What do you know about Halloween (Page59 B1) Task 4:Read the article after the video read the letter as quick as they can and answer three questions.Read the passage carefully and then work in group to find out the details in the passage. Read the passage one more time and finish Part B1. Then some of them come to the front to write down their answers on blackboard.Read the article after the video aloud. ①To help students be familiar with the passage and experience the sense of success in reading② To help students get the details of Halloween and learn how to scan in reading. By the way Help the set up the sense of cooperation.③ To help students to get more details of the passage and understand it better. ④ To active the students, help them to practice their pronunciation .
Step4.Post-reading(12minutes) Task 5:Finish the exercise 1. fill in the blanks in part B3 on P602. finish Part B4 on P60 Finish the exercise by themselves then check in groups and correct by themselves first. To get immediate feedback and help students consolidate what they have learnt in this passage.
Step 5. Production(7minutes) Task6: Draw and retellGuide students to work in groups to make a mind-map. Then try to retell according the mind-map. 1. work in groups to make a mind-map. Then according to the mind-map each group member retell one activity.2.show and evaluate the retell. To help students learn to draw a mind-map to improve their logical abilities and develop their cooperation’s abilities.
Step6 :Homework(1minutes) 1. Work in groups to find out some useful word phrases and sentences. 2.Finish period 2 on Students’ Exercise book. Work in groups to find out some useful word phrases and sentences and finish exercise after class. To help students consolidate what they have learnt in this lesson.
