Before retelling the story, watch the video
It was the final part of the 2016 World Triathlon Series in Mexico. Alistair Brownlee was just 700 meters away from the finish line. But as Alistair came around the corner, he saw his brother Jonny about to fall onto the track.
Alistair didn’t hesitate to help his brother. He ran to him, caught him and started pulling him towards the finish line. Then he pushed his brother over the line. This move put his brother Jonny in second place and Alistair himself in third.
Although people had divided opinions to his actions, for Alistair, he was not an athlete but just a brother at that moment.
