An elephant and a monkey were arguing.
“Look, how big and strong I am!” The elephant said.
The monkey disagreed, “Look, how fast I can run and climb! Can you ”
At last they asked a wise tiger, “Which is better—to be strong or to be quick ”
The tiger said, “Go across the river and pick the fruit on that tree for me, then I can tell.”
So they went to the river, but the water ran fast and the monkey was afraid.
“Get on my back,” said the elephant proudly, “I shall carry you.”
Soon they crossed the river. There stood the tree. But the fruit was too high for the elephant to reach. He also tried to pull the tree down, but failed.
“Don’t worry.” The monkey climbed quickly up the tree, and picked the fruit.

Long ago, three pigs grew up and left their parents' home. They said goodbye to each other and went their separate ways.
Each little pig decided to build a house. The youngest pig was lazy and he thought, "I will build my house with grass. It is light and easy to build with." The middle pig thought, "Here are many small sticks. They are easy to work with. I will build my house out of sticks." The oldest pig worked hard and always thought before doing things. "There are many dangers(危险)in this world. I must build a strong house out of stones," he thought.
And soon, the three pigs built their houses. One day, a big wolf(狼)came to the town. He was very hungry. He saw the first little pig in his grass house. There was once a bad king, all his people hated him very much. One day in a summer he was swimming by himself in a river.The king was a good swimmer, but while he was in the middle of the river, he was ill. He cried out “Help! There was once a man called Mr. Flowers, and flowers were his only joy in life. He spent all his spare time in one of his four glass-houses and grew flowers of every color, with long and difficult names, for competitions, he tried to grow a rose of a new color to win the silver cup(银杯) for the Rose of the Year.
Mr. Flowers’ glass-houses were very close to a middle school. Boys of around thirteen years of age were often tempted to throw a stone(石头) or two at one of Mr. Flowers’ glass-houses. So Mr. Flower did his best to be in or close by his glass-houses at the beginning and end of the school day.
But it was not always possible to be on watch at those times. Mr. Flowers had tried in many ways to protect his glass, but nothing had been useful. He had been to report to the headmaster, but this bad not done any good. He had tried to drive away the boys when they threw stones. He had even picked up all the stones around his garden, so that the boys would have nothing to throw, but they soon found others.
At last Mr. Flowers had a good idea. He put up a large notice. It was made of good, strong wood. It was some meters away from the glass-houses. On it he had written the words: DO NOT THROW STONES AT THIS NOTICE. After that, Mr Flowers had no further trouble: The boys were much more attempted to throw stoned at the notice than at the glass-houses.
