Everything seems to be getting faster, too.
1)不定代词everything作主语时谓语动词用单数。
如:Everything is growing in spring. 春天万物生长。
seem 动词,意为“似乎,好像”
seem to do, It seems that +从句seem+adj.Eg.
The boy seems clever.The boy seems to be clever.It seems that the boy is clever.
这个男孩似乎很聪明。
4.In the1700s people invented the steam engine.
invent 动词 “发明,创造” invention 名词 “发明” inventor名词“发明家”
如:Doctor Wang invented the machine.
王博士发明了这种机器。
5.Then steam was able to power boats and cars.蒸汽能够给船和汽车提供动力
1)be able to 意为“能,会”相当于can, 但be able to 有各种时态。如:am/are/is able to, was/were able to, will be able to 等。 The girl is able to play the piano.= The girl can play piano. 女孩会弹钢琴。
2)power 在此是动词,意为“给……提供动力”。
imagine
⑴imagine后接名词或代词作宾语。
Can you imagine life without water 你能想象没有水的生活吗?
⑵imagine后接动名词或名词复合结构作宾语。
I can’t imagine meeting you here.我没想到在这遇到你。
⑶ imagine一般不可接不定式作宾语,但可以接“人称代词+不定式(to be)或形容词”构成的复合结构。
Just imagine yourself (to be) alone on the island. 想象一下你独自一人在岛上的情形。
⑷imagine后接疑问词引导的宾语从句或“疑问词+动词不定式”结构。
We can’t imagine how to use “the flying donuts”.我们想象不出怎么使用“飞行面包圈”。
Step 5: Retell
Retell the test with these phrases. Ask the students to retell in groups, then let them retell together, and then retell in competition.
