One night, security guard Aina found a wallet that had been left behind in a shopping cart at the grocery store where he works.
Instead of leaving it in the lost and found, the 22-year-old returned the wallet to the total stranger at her home! While that is impressive of itself, what's even more amazing is that he had to ride his bike for over 3 miles to get there because he didn't have a car.
Aina was able to return the wallet to Chloe, who had forgotten the important item while trying to load her baby and groceries into the car. She couldn't believe Aina's thoughtfulness, so after he left her home, Chloe's husband, Gray, turned to Facebook to give the security guard some praise.
“He rode his bicycle to return her wallet—completely full of everything important to her, including cash. Nothing was more moving,” Gray explained. “Words cannot do this gentleman justice. He truly is what is right in this world.” From there, the power of social media took over! Gray's post spread quickly for all the right reasons, which gave his business partner, Greg Gaudet, the idea of starting a GoFundMe campaign to buy Aina a new car! In just two weeks, they had raised over $25,000—enough to buy Aina a 2017 VW Jetta and cover his insurance and gas costs of 6 to 12 months!
Aina was completely blown away by the surprise! After all, this was never what he intended when he rode so far to return Chloe's wallet. “I have lost stuff before too,” he said. “I would greatly want someone to come forward and do the same if I lost something”.

Nowadays, more stores and restaurants are not accepting cash as a means of payment. Instead, customers must pay with a credit card, or by smartphone apps.
Many business owners say that being cashless has helped them streamline the way their businesses run. Staff members don't have to think about having enough money in the cash register to give change or taking bills and coins to the bank.
However, according to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, more than 8 million households in the United States don't have bank accounts. Also, many people, including kids, don't meet the requirements for a credit card.
“A cashless economy is not an inclusive economy. There are consumers who can't get a credit card because of low income. When stores refuse to accept cash, they exclude low-income or homeless people,” says Tazra Mitchell, policy director at the DC Fiscal Policy Institute.
Plus people who do have credit cards might prefer to pay in cash. “Cash is used by almost eight in ten people in the US every month. That's more than the percentage of any other payment type,” says Nick Bourke, director of the Pew Charitable Trusts' consumer finance project.
Lawmakers in several places have taken steps to ban cashless stores. A handful of major cities—including New York City and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania—have already passed laws to address the problem. In San Francisco, California, a law banning cashless stores was passed last May. It says most stores in the city must allow customers to pay in cash. Derek Remski helped make the San Francisco law. Remski says, “It's about understanding that not everyone has equal access to things.”
8.What does the underlined word “streamline” in Paragraph 2 probably mean

10.What can we learn from Paragraph 5
A.Cash payment is still very popular with consumers.
B.Cashless stores will be driven out of the market.
C.Stores should allow more than one payment type.
D.Paying with credit cards has its own disadvantages.
11.What is some cities' attitude towards going cashless
A.They encourage it.
B.They fight it.

A night at the movies is always a good idea. But when you leave the theater and realize you just dropped $45 on a ticket and some snacks, you'll wish you had been patient enough to wait until the movie came out on Netflix. The average movie ticket price in the United States in 2000 was $5.39; now, a ticket is over $9.
The main reason that movie tickets have got so expensive is because of inflation(通货膨胀). It was actually more expensive to go to the movies in the 70s than it is now. A ticket in 1978 cost $2.34. If you enter that into an inflation calculator, the same ticket would cost you $9.46 today. According to the National Association of Theater Owners, the average cost of a ticket today is $9.11.
Another reason why you need to spend some of your life savings seeing a movie on the big screen is that theaters are competing with streaming services that produce their own films, such as Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon. And let's be honest, sitting at home on your sofa or bed is more comfortable than sitting in a cold theater.
Because of streaming technology, theaters have to do something to bring in customers. Attractions—including alcohol, reclining seats(躺椅), surround sound, and 3-D movies—are all examples of that. And those upgrades come at a price, leading to more expensive tickets.
“There's all that extra cost, and it's really important for theater owners and companies to make that experience as enjoyable as possible,” Patrick Corcoran, vice president of the National Association of Theater Owners told Marketplace. “Because you're offering a superb experience—audience expectations are for the latest and greatest technology. Audiences are willing to pay more for a particular experience.”
12.According to the passage, what makes movie tickets so expensive
A.The viewers are wealthier than before.
B.The movie theaters offer popcorn and alcohol for free.
C.Inflation has made the ticket price appear higher than before.
D.The popular movies with famous stars deserve the high price.
13.What can we learn from the passage
A.Netflix is always a better choice for movie viewers than theaters.
B.With comfortable seats, theaters are more attractive than streaming services.
C.The viewers actually pay more for the upgrades of the movie theaters.
D.The theater owners and companies update the theaters to make them popular.
14.Which of the following would Patrick Corcoran most probably agree with
A.It's unwise for viewers to pay so much to watch a movie in the theater.
B.The high price of a movie ticket is supposed to agree with a wonderful experience.
C.It's a waste of money to provide the latest technology in the theater.
D.The viewers would prefer to sit at home on the sofa or bed.
15.What is the best title for the text
A.Behind the Increasing Price of Movie Tickets
B.Technological Improvement on Movie Theaters
C.The Competition Between Movie Theaters and Streaming Services
D.How to Save the Viewers' Wallets

Don't be too concerned about money, because all it will do is distract you from achieving happiness. And the irony(具有讽刺意味的事) is that people think they will be happy when they have money. 16 . If you are happy and you have money, you can use it for happiness. If you are unhappy and you have money, you will use that money for more unhappiness. Money is simply a neutral force.
Don't misunderstand me: 17 . I am not against anything. Money is a means. Your money will enhance your pattern, whether it is good or bad.
18 . They are ready, at any moment, to change their patterns and to change their ways, if more money is available somewhere else.
Once the money is there, then suddenly you are no longer yourself; you are ready to change.
This is the way of the worldly man. Remember, I don't call a person worldly because he or she has money. 19 . This applies to people with no money as well—they may simply be poor. Just being poor does not equal to lacking spirit;and just being rich does not equal to being a materialist. The materialistic pattern of life is one in which money predominates(占主导地位) over everything.
The non-materialistic life is one in which money is just a means;happiness predominates;joy predominates;your own individuality predominates. 20 , and you are not distracted.
Then suddenly you will see your life has a meaningful quality.
A.I am not against money
B.However, money has nothing to do with happiness
C.So they attach great importance to money
D.You know who you are and where you are going
E.Money brings great joy for people who pursue it
F.I call them worldly if they change their motives for money
G.But people keep looking for money as if money would bring happiness

I was invited to a cookout on an old friend's farm in western Washington. I parked my car outside the farm and walked past a milking house which had apparently not been used for many years. A noise at a window caught my attention, so I entered it. It was a hummingbird(蜂鸟), desperately trying to escape. She was caught in spider's webs(蜘蛛网) and was barely able to move her wings. She ceased her struggle the instant I picked her up.
With the bird in my cupped hands, I looked around to see how she had got in. The broken window glass was the likely answer. I stuffed a piece of cloth into the hole and took her outside, closing the door securely behind me.
When I opened my hands, the bird did not fly away; she sat looking at me with her bright eyes. I removed the sticky spider's webs that covered her head and wings. Still, she made no attempt to fly. Perhaps she had been struggling against the window too long and was too tired Or too thirsty
As I carried her up the blackberry-lined path toward my car where I kept a water bottle, she began to move. I stopped, and she soon took wing but did not immediately fly away. Hovering(盘旋), she approached within six inches of my face. For a very long moment, this tiny creature looked into my eyes, turning her head from side to side. Then she flew quickly out of sight.
During the cookout, I told my hosts about the hummingbird incident. They promised to fix the window. As I was departing, my friends walked me to my car. I was standing by the car when a hummingbird flew to the center of our group and began hovering. She turned from person to person until she came to me. She again looked directly into my eyes, then let out a squeak and was gone. For a moment, all were speechless. Then someone said, “She must have come to say goodbye.”

故选A。
C

根据最后一段中的“Because you're offering a superb...for a particular experience.”
故选A。

17.A 根据下文“I am not against anything.” 故选A。

25.C 根据上文“I applied, but I didn't think”可知,作者认为自己没有资格得到那项经济援助。
故选A。
故选A。
33.B 根据上文“This happened over and over”可知,这件事发生了一次又一次,作者的希望不断落空。
故选A。
故填were introduced。

One possible version:
Paragraph 1:
A few weeks later,I went to the farm again. On arrival, I approached the milking house and noticed that the broken window had been completely fixed, with no sign of the danger that had once threatened the small bird. I was relieved and grateful that my friends had taken my warning into consideration and taken action to protect the hummingbird. I spent the afternoon exploring the farm and chatting with my friends, hoping to catch a glimpse of the little bird. However, a ripple of sadness surged through me when not seeing the lovely creature the whole day. The night screen was to hang down.
Paragraph 2:
I was just about to leave when the hummingbird appeared. She was flying around me and hovering just a few inches in front of my face. I was amazed and touched by this unexpected visit. The tiny bird seemed to be thanking me for rescuing her and making sure she was safe. I stood there, entranced by her beauty and grace as she flew in circles around me. After a few moments, she let out a squeak as if bidding me farewell and flew off into the distance. As I said goodbye to the hummingbird and got into my car, I knew that I would always treasure the memory of that special encounter.
