Ryan Finley is a sketch card artist for Topps and art teacher at Beck Center, Ohio. Ryan and his 10-year-old daughter, Keira, recently showed their artistic gifts at a Beck Center exhibit. “Side by Side: The Art of Ryan and Keira Finley” includes the pair's artistic expression of the same things.
I first met the Finleys when I was a student in Ryan's class. Keira, now a fourth grader, has been creating art since she was a young child. “She was always next to me, lying on the ground drawing,” Ryan remembered.
Keira's love for art continued, and she became a student in Ryan's class at Beck Center. Keira said, “The best part of ‘Side by Side' was having friends and classmates come to see the exhibit. I was fond of walking around with my dad and talking to everybody.”
Keira told the local news media that she'd love art even if her dad had a different job. “If my dad weren't an artist,” she said, “I'd still probably be doing this.”
Ryan's interest in art also began in childhood. “I'd always be drawing when I wasn't supposed to be,” he said. “I'd get notes all the time saying, ‘You need to focus more on your work.’”
That interest never left him. “In high school, I took every art class you could possibly take,” he said. When asked what he liked best about his job, Ryan was quite certain. “Surely the art show I just had with Keira,” he said. “It's hard to even put feelings into words. It's pretty touching.”
Ryan also loves working with students. “I do my best to guarantee that they're having fun with what they're doing,” he said. “My favorite part is seeing the growth of students.”
1.What do we know about the Beck Center exhibit
A.It received a lot of support from families.
B.It was mainly open to primary school students.

To say that the Spanish painter Pablo Picasso was a leader in Western art in the 20th century is to repeat an accepted fact, according to Time. “No painter before him had enjoyed such a large following and recognition in his own lifetime.”
Born on Oct. 25, 1881, Picasso had created more than 30,000 paintings, drawings, sculptures and other pieces of art by the time he died in 1973.
That's a long time to paint! The result is not only a lot of art, but a lot of different phases in Picasso's work. On its website, Christie's auction house lists eight different periods in the course of his painting career.
Over a century ago, the painter once said, “Every act of creation is first of all an act of destruction.” So the eight periods are all very different in their choice of subjects and yet unmistakably drawn by Picasso's hands. Financial Express called his style unusual.
As his style changed over time, it became more simplistic. A common joke is that Picasso forgot how to paint. After all, he was classically trained at the School of Fine Arts in Barcelona.
Now he is best known for leading an artistic movement known as “Cubism(立体派)”. It used geometric shapes to create human and animal figures. With this method, Picasso tried to show his figures from multiple perspectives in two-dimensional space. For example, a person's left eye may be shown from the front while his right eye and nose are shown from the side. The result is strange and beautiful, frightening and funny.
Picasso often said that he admired primitive art and drawings made by youngsters. “When I was the age of 14, I could draw like Raphael, but it took me a lifetime to learn to draw like them,” he said. Maybe that's why Picasso is still so popular and wins a lot of reputation. We look at his work and think, “Maybe I could do that!”
4.Which of the following best describes Pablo Picasso
A.Productive. B.Optimistic. C.Traditional. D.Generous.
5.Why did Financial Express call Picasso's style unusual
A.His act of creation was destructive.
B.He created a series of simple images.
C.His painting style remained unchanged.
D.He drew different subjects in different periods.
6.What is special about a cubist painting according to the text
A.It is rather difficult to understand.
B.It shows figures from various perspectives.
C.It covers different subjects at the same time.
D.It shows some strange figures.
7.What does the underlined word “them” in the last paragraph refer to
A.Raphael's works. B.Artists.
C.Drawings. D.Youngsters.

Children art education is something that is much encouraged for the children's creative growth. This is necessary because a child can have a sense of appreciation of art, along with all the other things that they learn in school. 1
Children art education should be designed from a very early age so that they are allowed to convey their feelings freely in whatever way they wish to. 2
However, the task of children art education is not a very easy one, because you have to find the right way in which you can help them get interested in what you are trying to teach them. 3 The physical space where the art education is to be carried out should also be carefully decorated to keep attractive to the children. The use of colors should be in abundance (丰富) as that is what attracts a child first.
Displaying examples of artwork that you think would be important enough to influence the children is also a good idea. Of course, a photograph of a painting is something that children might not appreciate. 4 This will be a source of inspiration for the children to try them out as well.
The creative process is something that you must not interfere with (干涉) during a children art education class. 5 But after that, you must wait for the children themselves to come up with something meaningful to their ability. As long as the end result is connected with the topic, every child's artwork is worthy of being praised.
A.You can just give them a topic of drawing.
B.A trip to an art museum can be an inspiration to many students.
C.They also have a place where they can express all their feelings.
D.The reason for this could be the lack of interest in the teacher.
E.This is the only way that art can be appreciated as children grow up.
F.So creating the right environment for children art education is very important.
G.Instead, put up paintings that children will be fond of.

those指代ideas and values,与hold之间为被动关系,所以用过去分词作后置定语,修饰those。
5.to/towards 考查介词。
此处为with的复合结构,即“with+宾语+宾补”,time与go by之间为主动关系,故填现在分词going。
故填their。

5.A 过渡句。 故选A。
【高频词汇】 1.a sense of...一种……感

3.carry out实施;执行 4.attractive adj. 灵感 7.try out试验 8.come up with想出
长难句
原句 However, the task of children art education is not a very easy one, because you have to find the right way in which you can help them get interested in what you are trying to teach them.
