Learn some new words and review some reading strategy to help Ss finish the Reading tasks. Step3 While-Reading Fast Reading Task1 Find the topic sentences Tasks2:Match each paragraph with the main idea Careful reading. Task3:Read Para.1 and answer the questions in 2b. Q1. How is Lin Yue's host family Q2. Does she enjoy staying with her host family Q3. What does Lin Yue miss a lot Q4. Who helps Lin Yue practice French Q5. How does she feel about making mistakes when she speaks French Give a reading tip and ask students to find out the answers. Check the answers and underline the key words. Task4:Careful reading. Read Para.2 and answer the questions. Circle the example link words and list four table manners in France. Invite 2 students to play a game to understand the table manners in France well. Ss say something about Chinese customs and Chinese table manners and discuss: How do a person behave properly in China III Presentation Work on 3a. 1. Your pen pal is coming to China on an exchange program. He/She is asking you about Chinese customs and what he/she is supposed to do or not. Make notes in the chart. 2. Fill in the chart and say the Chinese customs in English. Chinese customs: Table manners It’s polite to ask older people to start eating first at the table. It’s not polite to pick up your bowl to eat. You’re supposed to use chopsticks to eat. It’s not polite to stick your chopsticks into your food. It’s impolite to point at anyone with your chopsticks. It’s impolite to knock your empty bowl with your chopsticks. House rules You’re supposed to greet the host family. You’re supposed to shake hands with people. You’re supposed to say “nihao” to people. You’re not supposed to bow, kiss or hug with people. Going out with people You should call first. You should make a going-out plan with friends. Ⅳ.
