Step I. Greetings and warming up T: Hello! Boys and girls. Nice to see you again. Ss: Hello! Ms Zhou. Nice to see you, too. T: Do you have a happy summer vacation Where did you go What did you do Did you watch English movies What are they Step II. Lead in and language study 1. Teacher says to the students, I like movies. During the summer vacation, I learned a lot by watching English movies. I think it’s a good way. And now, would you like to tell me how you study English Teacher writes the pattern on the blackboard: -- How do you study English -- I study English by + V.-ing Students can tell their ways freely with the pattern. Make a list of their answers on the blackboard. 2.Show some pictures. How do the Ss study English Try to ask and answer in pairs. Teacher can teach the new words and phrases at the right time. Step III. 1a 1. T: You have so many good ways to study for the English test. And I think there are some other ways. Maybe they can help. So please open your books and turn to Page 2. Let’s look at 1a. First try to understand the meaning of each way, and then check the ways you study for an English test. After checking, read the ways to the students and ask students to put up their hands to show which things they checked. Count the numbers. 2. Ask students to write down other ways they study for an English test. Then ask some to read their ways to the class. Step IV. 1b 1. T: There are three students in the pictures in 1a. Their names are Mei, Antonio and Pierre. They are talking about their ways to study for a test. Let’s listen to their conversation and write letters from the pictures. 2. Students listen and write the letters for each one. 3. Check the answers with the students. 4. Read the sample answer to the class and ask students to say the other two. Step V. 1c Pair work 1. Read the instructions and the conversation to the class, and then ask students to make similar conversations. 2. Ask some pairs to present their conversations. Step VI. Step 1. Greetings and Revision 1. Greet the class and check the homework. 2. Ask students to make sentences with V. + by + V.-ing Step 2. Listening 1. Describe the picture and ask students what is happening. 2. T: We’re going to listen to a conversation. In this conversation, a girl is talking about learning English. She is asking members of the English club some questions. Listen to the conversation and check the questions you hear. 3. Listen and check. 4. Listen again and check the answers with the students. Then finish 2b. Step 3. Pairwork Make conversations using the information in 2a and 2b first. After that, make their own conversations in pairs. Step4 Role-play 1.Jack and Annie are talking. What are they talking about Jack has some problems studying English. What are his problems And what advice does Annie give him Read the conversation and find out the answers to the questions. 2. Explain some key points and difficulties at the same time. 3. Listen to the tape and repeat. 4. Find out any question about the conversation and ask the teacher for help. 5.
