考点分类练(十) 主旨大意题(1)
(限时:25分钟)
Passage 1
(2023江西南昌二模)
There’s this idea that the best stories are somewhere else, but actually we’ve got great stories on our doorsteps.
I was born in Birmingham and grew up doing sport. At 16,when I was playing football,I injured my knee so badly that I had to give up any sporting ambitions. However,I turned to photography as a way for me to continue exploring my passion for sport.Taking photos also allowed me to connect with people, sound their voices and challenge social norms (规范).
When I was growing up,I hardly saw any photographs of ordinary girls playing sport. The only images I see of sportswomen in the mainstream media are of excellent athletes. To fill the gap,I’m trying to do my own art project People,Place and Sport.Since most people aren’t used to being in the spotlight,I will open with the same question:“What does this sport mean to you ” Then I try to involve the subjects I photograph by doing interviews with them and asking how they would like to share their stories with sports. When people respond positively and start to relax,I begin to shoot them on film.
One of my best project photos is of Mav Akram boxing.Mav is an African woman boxer and runs a Women’s Boxing Club in Birmingham. She is also passionate about getting women into boxing, not just for the physical elements, but also mental health.Because Mav thinks boxing is not only a strategic sport of not getting hit,but also can offer a sense of community. This photo truly encourages women of all shapes and sizes to participate in the sport.

D.By opening up with various questions.
3.What does Mav think of boxing
A.It is merely suitable for men.
B.It sharpens her body and mind.
C.It teaches her to avoid getting hit.
D.It helps her fight against social norms.
4.What is the text mainly about
A.An art project.
B.A passion for sport.
C.An impressive photo.
D.A lasting friendship.
Passage 2
(2023安徽池州一模)
People say “a picture is worth a thousand words”,but if you look at books and movies based on them, you may question this common saying. Many times great words end up being turned into unsuccessful movies.
Good movies need good stories. If so,why has one of the earliest and greatest works in Western storytelling,The Odyssey, never had an equally great movie based on it Movies need strong characters. So why have the movies based on The Great Gatsby never been praised as “great” Movies of course need impressive images,so why has Alice in Wonderland only resulted in movies best described as “interesting”
One of the key reasons behind this is that while a book usually takes a few days to read,a movie typically lasts under two hours. This means that great books can lose plot details and characters when they move to the big screen.Even the highly successful Harry Potter movies can’t escape from it,with fans of the books disappointed not to see some of their favorite characters in the movie versions.
Movies also disappoint us when things don’t look the way we imagined them in the books.Take, for example, the epic movie Troy, which is in part based on The Iliad and was met with mixed reviews from the audience. The most questionable issue was the actress chosen to play the part of Helen. Many people thought she didn’t live up to Helen’s title of “the most beautiful woman in the world”,influencing opinions of the movie to some extent.
There are a thousand Hamlets in a thousand people’s eyes.Furthermore, books and movies are two different forms of media and therefore have different rules. With this in mind, perhaps we should judge a movie in its own right, and not against its original source.
5.What is the function of paragraph 1
A.To explain a concept.
B.To quote a saying.
C.To support an argument.
D.To introduce the topic.
6.Why are some fans disappointed with the Harry Potter movies
A.They cannot afford the tickets.
B.The movies are dull and boring.
C.Their favorite characters are not included.
D.Their parents prevent them watching movies.
7.What can we infer from the last paragraph
A.Great books mean successful movies.
B.We judge a movie in a similar way.
C.Great movies have their own rules.
D.We judge a movie by its original source.
8.Which of the following can be a suitable title for the text
A.Good books,bad movies
B.Good books,good movies!
C.How to make good movies
D.How to adapt good books
Passage 3
(2023湖南永州三模)
Regenerative tourism is a concept that is gaining attraction in the travel industry. It is different from sustainable tourism in that it goes beyond just minimizing the negative impact of tourism. It is a philosophy that aims to not only minimize the negative impact of tourism but also to actively contribute to the regeneration of local ecosystems, economies, and cultures.
The concept of regenerative tourism is not new.Native communities around the world have been practicing regenerative tourism for centuries. However,it has gained renewed interest in recent years due to the growing awareness of the impact of tourism on the environment and the need for sustainable travel practices, particularly post-pandemic-indeed it could even be argued that,as the global tourism industry and those who depend on it start to recover, tourism in itself is a regenerative act.
One example of regenerative tourism is ecotourism.Ecotourism involves traveling to natural areas with the aim of learning about and conserving the environment. It involves activities such as hiking, bird watching, and wildlife viewing.Another example of regenerative tourism is community-based munity-based tourism involves staying with local communities and participating in their cultural activities, such as our Buffalo Curd Experience in Sri Lanka,or our Rice Wine Trek in Laos.Regenerative tourism can also involve the use of sustainable and regenerative practices in the tourism industry itself. For example, hotels can use renewable energy sources, reduce their water consumption, and use sustainable materials in their construction.
The benefits of regenerative tourism are many. However, carrying out regenerative tourism practices requires a shift in mindset and a commitment to sustainability. It requires tourism businesses to not only minimize their negative impact but to actively contribute to the regeneration of the environment and communities. It requires tourists to be conscious of their impact and to choose travel options in line with their values.
In conclusion, regenerative tourism is a promising concept that has the potential to transform the travel industry.By actively contributing to the regeneration of local ecosystems, economies, and cultures, regenerative tourism can create a better future for both people and the planet.
9.What is the aim of the regenerative tourism
A.To attract more investments.
B.To highlight the advantages of tourism.
C.To protect conventional economy and culture.
D.To promote a renewable and sustainable tourism.
10.Why has the regenerative tourism regained public interest recently
A.Tourism industry has globally boomed.
B.People have suffered from the pandemic.
C.People show more concern about the environment.
D.Regenerative tourism has been practised for long.
11.What does paragraph 3 mainly talk about
A.The definition of ecotourism.
B.The illustration of regenerative tourism.
C.Environmental conservation practices.
D.Reasonable doubts about regenerative tourism.
12.What might the writer agree with according to the last two paragraphs
A.Regenerative tourism has a bright future.
B.Tourists can choose whatever travel they like.
C.Travel industry is able to transform regenerative tourism.
D.Regenerative tourism can be practised in traditional ways.
