Recently, a flying car has turned science fiction into a reality after successfully completing the test flight(飞行) between two airports in Slovakia.
The AirCar was invented by Professor Stefan Klein. It took him over two years and around 1.7 million pounds to build it. The AirCar can turn from a car into a plane in just 2 minutes and 15 seconds.
Once it has taken off, the AirCar can fly at a speed of around 120 miles per hour. There is room for two people inside the car. It can carry a weight of up to 200 kg and can fly at the height of up to 2,500 m. Upon landing, the wings fold up and into the car, making it short and small enough to drive on normal roads.
So far, Klein says the flying car has spent 40 hours in the air, including its first flight between cities, from Nitra to Bratislava in Slovakia, on June 28, 2021.Klein flew the flying car himself on the 35-minute flight and reported that the experience was very enjoyable. After landing in Bratislava, he drove off the airport runway and onto a motorway(高速公路). He said that the AirCar gave him a feeling of freedom.
Some people hope that flying cars will one day be a big part of everyday life. Michael Cole, the boss of the car maker Hyundai in Europe, predicts that they will be widely used by 2030. He says this could make roads in cities less busy and cut down street-level pollution caused by cars on the roads.
