句型梳理
1. (教材P20 ) This, however, was a time when women were not encouraged to become writers.

This/That/lt is/was a time when... 这/那是一个......的时代。
该句式中，when引导定语从句，修饰 a time，关系副词when在定语从句中作时间状语，相当于at/during which。
This was a time when the two countries were at war.

That was a time when people went through much suffering.
那是一个人们经历了诸多苦难的时期。
It was a time when anything seemed possible
那是一个任何事似乎都有可能发生的时代

祈使句+and/or+陈述句
该句式中，祈使句表示条件，陈述句表示结果。表顺承关系时用and，表转折关系时用or。陈述何常用一般将来时。
Give me one more hour, and I guarantee I'll get the work finished.

Follow your doctor's advice, or your cough will get worse.
听从医生的建议否则你的咳嗽会加重。
说明：该句式中的祈使句可以转换为if引导的条件状语从句或分词短语作状语

= If you stand over there, you'll be able to see the oil painting better.
