Chinese calligraphy（书法） is a traditional form of writing Chinese characters（汉字） from the Chinese language through the use of ink and a brush. Picasso, the world-famous master of art, once expressed, “If I once lived in China, I must have become a calligrapher rather than a painter.”
The ink brush, ink, paper and inkstone are basic tools of Chinese calligraphy. Most people know these four
things together and give them a name of the Four Treasures of the Study.
If you want to write beautiful characters, you need to focus and calm down to have a peaceful mind. It is believed that calligraphers enjoy a long life because the practice is a good form of physical training.
In the past,people learned calligraphy for getting a chance to be officials or be famous. With the development of science and technology, through smartphones or computers in modern society, it is easy for us to choose the characters we want as long as we can remember how they are pronounced.
