72.Dear Johnson,
I am sorry to tell you that I can’t take part in the volleyball game with you this weekend.
This morning I got a stomachache after drinking some milk which was not fresh, and even now I’m still feeling weak. My doctor suggested that I avoid too much exercise and have a good rest. So I can’t play the game with you.
But if you agree, I can invite another classmate who plays volleyball very well to join you. Or I can take part in the volleyball game with you next time. Please consider my suggestion seriously! Looking forward to your reply.
Best wishes!
Yours,
Li Hua

Text10:
M: Abraham Lincoln was the sixteenth president of the United States. Every year on Presidents’ Day, we honor him as one of the greatest presidents in our country’s history. Abe Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809 in Kentucky. At night, he liked to read by candlelight, but in the day he worked on his father’s farm. As an adult, he lived in Illinois and became a lawyer. He served in Congress where he spoke out against slavery. By the time Lincoln was elected to the president in 1860, the nation was horribly divided over the issue of slavery. Eleven southern states decided to “escape”from the United States. That meant they broke off to form their own nation, which then led to the American Civil War.President Lincoln fought to keep the U.S. together as one united country. In the “Gettysburg Address”, President Lincoln honored the thousands of soldiers who died on that battlefield. He called for the nation to come together so that the“government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth". After four long years, the American Civil War ended. Abraham Lincoln had kept the United States together in its most terrible crisis. Today, we remember him as a great leader who led his country out of its darkest hour.

The Sopranos: Tony's house

I first came to Berwickshire for a job-to be the Ranger for the Berwickshire Marine Reserve.I was then Senior Ranger for St Abb’s Head National Nature Reserve and I set up my own business, In Our Nature, offering wildlife journeys, walks, talks and courses in 2020. There’s so much I love about Berwickshire. Its stunning scenery. Its variety of landscapes and habitats and range of amazing wildlife, both above and below the water. Its friendly people. In places you can feel like you are a million miles from anywhere, when in reality you’re just an hour’s drive from Edinburgh.
The thing that supports everything on the Berwickshire Coast is its varied and fascinating geology(地质).The jewel in the crown is Siccar Point. With its world-famous non-conformity(均变),it’s considered the birthplace of modern geology. The geology not only shapes the landscape, but it also impacts on the wildlife, forming varied habitats from steep sheltered valleys and towering cliffs to sheltered sandy bays.
There’s nothing I like more than being out in nature and sharing my passion with others, so starting up In Our Nature was a no brainer. In the warmer months I offer tours on land and sea to help folk enjoy the amazing wildlife and scenery of the Berwickshire Coast. In the darker months my online courses help people learn about wildlife in the hope that it will increase their enjoyment of the marine and coastal environments they spend time in.
My favourite spot on the Berwickshire Coast has got to be a place called Petticowick. The views up the coast and inland to the Mire Loch are second to none. It’s a place where you can marvel at geology which covers unimaginable periods of time. You can listen to and watch thousands of seabirds that return to the cliffs to breed each spring. Or witness all the amazing activity of the breeding seal colony on the beach below during the early winter.
24.Why did the author go to Berwickshire

A.By providing online courses. B.By sharing her experiences.
C.By offering tours on land. D.By organizing trips to the sea.
27.What can we learn from the text
A.Modern geology needs further study.
B.Petticowick should be well preserved.

The term “plant blindness” was first used in 1998 to describe our general tendency, as humans, not to see the plant life that surrounds us. The problem has understandable roots: the human brain can detect differences, and then divides those differences into threats or non-threats. Plants, being unlikely to attack, are grouped together and treated as bined with the general move to cities, and then to screen-based life indoors, this has resulted in, for example, up to half of British children being unable to recognize an oak leaf.
We become more emotionally involved in what we can comprehend. “Plants,” as David Attenborough reminds us in his new BBC series, The Green Planet, “are the basis of all life, including ourselves.” And yet the beauty and power of the polar bear, the snow leopard, and the orangutan mean many more will campaign to save them than cow-wheat.
During the lockdown, when people were forced to be still, or to go on daily walks, more of us began to notice plants, and to care for them. A pre-existing rise in houseplant breeding became faster. There has also been an increase in interest in how they interconnect. Peter Wohlleben’s bestseller The Hidden Life of Trees argues that they communicate, care for each other and are part of a “wood-wide web”; botanists (植物学家) such as Stefano Mancuso argue for a kind of plant intelligence.
The Green Planet takes these trends, applies great new technology, and, of course, adds Attenborough’s dramatic narrative (叙述): in the first part, about the rainforest, this was balsa leaves battling for sunlight; leaf-cutter ants sent out by an underground fungus; vine tendrils waving through the air. The aim, says Attenborough, is to see the world from the plants’ point of view - which is, of course, the definition of empathy (共鸣).
28.What does the term “plant blindness” mean
A.There are fewer plants in cities. B.People always ignore plants.
C.Green plants can relieve visual stress. D.Children know very little about plants.
29.Why may many people not choose to save cow-wheat
A.They don’t recognize cow-wheat. B.Cow-wheat isn’t beneficial to humans.
C.Cow-wheat isn’t beautiful or powerful. D.They understand more about some animals.
30.What happened during the lockdown
A.More people grew plants at home. B.Botanists discovered intelligent plants.
C.There was an increase in plant diversity. D.People began to communicate with plants.
31.What message does the author seem to convey in the text
A.Plants are more important than animals.
B.The Green Planet is worthy to be watched.
C.People are supposed to pay more attention to plants.
D.Plants are intelligent to communicate with each other freely.

China is one of the first countries to breed a medical culture. In comparison with Western methods, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) adopts a vastly different approach. For thousands of years, Chinese people have accumulated rich experience in fighting all sorts of diseases, therefore forming a unique medical theory under the guidance of ancient Chinese philosophies.
The core behind TCM is that the human body's life is the consequence of the balance between yin and yang. Yang functions to safeguard us against outer harm, and yin is the inner base to store and provide energy. When the balance between the two aspects is disturbed, people fall ill.
One of the traditional techniques of TCM, acupuncture (针刺疗法), means insertion of needles into superficial structures of the body — usually at acupoints (穴位) —to restore the yin-yang balance. It is often accompanied by moxibustion (灸法), which involves burning the mugwort on or near the skin at an acupoint.
The first known text that clearly talks about something like acupuncture and moxibustion as it is practiced today is Yellow Emperor5s Inner Canon. It is the earliest and most important written work of TCM and is considered the most representative medical text in China.
Acupuncture and moxibustion have aroused the interest of international medical science circles. And TCM is gradually gaining worldwide recognition. The WHO issued a document in 2002 that appealed to more than 180 countries to adopt TCM as an alternative in their medical policies. In 2010, acupuncture and moxibustion of traditional Chinese medicine were added to the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by the UNESCO. Presently, TCM has been back in the news for its effectiveness in improving the cure rate of the COVID-19 since its outbreak in January 2020.
32.What does the underlined word "It" in Paragraph 3 refer to
A.Acupuncture. B.TCM. C.Yin-yang balance. D.Moxibustion.
33.What can we learn about Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon from the text
A.It distinguishes acupxincture from moxibustion.
B.It greatly boosts the development of TCM.
C.It stresses the importance of using acupoints.
D.It's a foundation of world medical research.
34.What is the writer's attitude towards TCM
A.Worried. B.Skeptical. C.Promising. D.Disapproving.
35.What might be talked about in the paragraph following the text

Good note-taking can be very important to academic success. Notes can help you finish projects properly and pass tests. 36 To do so, use note-taking techniques for written text or verbal presentations such as lectures and meetings.
Note details at the top of your paper. Keep your notes organized by writing important details at the top of each page including the date, and page number of your notes. 37 And you can get important information even more easily.
38 Write down key facts, ideas, and details in your own words. Taking notes in your own words actively engages your brain, helps you better understand the text, and makes you more likely to remember the information.
Develop your own system of signs and symbols that can help you more quickly take notes and review them. For example, “SM” for “scientific method”.
Write keywords instead of full sentences. It is impossible to take all the information down. 39 Instead, use keywords to say the same things in a short and manageable way that you can easily and quickly review later.
