单元名称:外研社八年级上册英语Module 8 Accidents.
单元主题:本模块主题属于“人与自我”范畴,子主题涉及“身心健康,抗挫能力,珍爱生命的意识”。
单元大任务:了解日常生活中可能会发生的意外事故,学会描述事故发生的过程,提升安全防范意识,减少意外事故造成的伤害。
教材分析:
本模块围绕Accidents 这一主题展开,设计了3个语篇,包括一个对话、两篇阅读。
语篇一 詹姆斯老师和学生的对话,围绕着詹姆斯老师在路上看见的一则交通事故展开。对话中,詹姆斯老师用过去进行时描述了交通事故的起因、经过和结果,还涉及到了如何避免交通事故的发生。通过该语篇的学习,让学生了解生活中可能会遇到的事故,帮助学生提高安全意识,
语篇二是一篇记叙文,描述厨师亨利被蛇咬,然后通过手机拍照自救的故事。作者利用时间顺序来描述事故发生的起因、经过和结果,并且用幽默的语言向读者提出遇到突发事件时要保持冷静的建议。通过本课的学习,让学生指导如何描述事故,以及树立积极面对生活中遇到的突发事件的情感态度。

学情分析:
本课主题为意外事故,学生对“accidents”有一定的了解,通过学校的德育课程也学习了一些有关应对事故的自救措施和规则,设置的场景涵盖学校、饭店、交通,贴近学生的现实生活,能够引起学生的积极与热情,但是具体的事故处理方法仍然不太清楚。学生在前一个模块已经初步学习了过去进行时,能够用过去进行时态对事故进行描述,但是大部分同学缺乏对于话题具体描述的语言知识支撑以及话题背后文化意识的深层挖掘。

单元教学设计:

教材分析:
What:本课围绕生活中常见的交通事故展开,介绍了Ms James 在课堂上和学生谈论目睹的一起交通事故,并提出骑车时避免交通事故的几点建议。
Why:通过Ms James 目睹事故发生的感受以及对事故的描述,教育学生遵守交通规则的重要性,尤其是在过马路和骑自行车的时候尤其要警惕潜在的危险,传递安全无小事的价值观。
How :对话中在描述事故采用了一般过去时和过去进行时,描述事发现场时用while、when 引导的时间状语。在描述得出的教训时使用祈使句,表达了遵守交通规则的重要性。
学情分析:
中学生很多都骑自行车,学习本课对他们非常必要,懂得在骑车时要注意的安全事项。学生在第七模块已经学习了简单的过去进行时,对于过去进行时的结构已经有了一定的认识,能够运用简单的过去进行时进行描述正在进行的动作,为本模块学习while、when引导的主从复合句的过去进行时打下基础。听力材料中含有主从复合句的长句,对学生来说有一定难度。在听和阅读的过程中,克服生词障碍、猜测词义的能力还有待提高。

Fall off 从……跌落;从……落下,fell是fall的过去式。

What:本语篇聚焦突发事故,讲述了主人公Henry在厨房工作时不小心被蛇两次咬伤,幸好拍照记录了蛇的样子才让医生能对症下药,获得痊愈的故事。
Why: 语篇通过描述Henry 积极应对突发事件告诉读者遇到意外,要沉着冷静,学会自保,乐观面对,从而培养珍爱生命的意识。
How:本语篇是一篇记叙文,共7个自然段,从when,where,who, how(beginning, process, result)等方面描述了一起突发事故,核心语言依旧是一般过去时,尤其是when,while,as, before 等引导的时间状语。在描述事故发生的经过时,用到了过去进行时。在结尾时,使用了祈使句(if a snake bites you ,take your mobile phone or camera. Take its photos, But as you know, the snake won’t smile), 令人捧腹大笑的同时又发人深省。
学情分析:
本节课侧重对八年级学生阅读能力的进一步培养,以引导学生表达手机的功能为切入点,话题幽默风趣,学生容易接受。学生在学习过程中能够针对性地阅读并从文本中获取相关信息,并进一步学习过去进行时(while、when引导的状语从句连用)的用法。很多学生遇到突发事件慌乱,手足无措,通过这课阅读,可以学习主人公冷静沉着并积极自救的态度和处理方式,这正好能促进学生的精神成长。

第一单元的对话是由詹姆斯老师亲眼所见的一起交通事故引起的。自然导入过去进行时这一语法项目。

When, while 都有“当……的时候”的意思。在when 引导的时间状语从句中,其谓语动词可以是延续性动词,也可以是非延续性动词。
While 引导的时间状语从句中,谓语动词只能是延续性的,而且也只能与主句中 的谓语动词同时发生或存在。While 引导的时间状语从句多用进行时态。
