If you see someone get hurt, what can you do to help S1: … S2: … … Step 2 Warming up Work in pairs. Talk about the pictures. Use the words in the box to help you. (Activity 1 on page 96) (1) Ask the students to look at the pictures and think about what they show. (2) Go through the words in the box with the students. (3) Ask the students to work in pairs. Tell them to make as many sentences as possible according to the pictures. For example: Picture 1: It’s dangerous to run down the stairs. / Don’t run down the stairs. Picture 2: There is some broken glass in the kitchen. / Here is some broken glass on the ground. It’s dangerous to touch it. Picture 3: The boy is too weak to carry the piece of furniture. / The piece of furniture is so heavy that the boy can’t lift it. (4) Elicit some ideas. Step 3 Listening Listen and check what the pictures are about. (Activity 2 on page 96) (1) Play the recording. Ask the students to listen and check the pictures. (2) Play the recording again. Ask the students to remember as many sentences as possible about each picture. (3) Encourage some students to say something about each picture. (4) Play the recording once more and show the tapescript at the same time. (

Listen and underline the words the speaker stresses. (Activity 5 on page 97) (1) Explain that the key words are usually stressed. (2) Ask the students to work in pairs and discuss which the key words in each sentence are. (3) Let the students read the sentences. (4) Play the recording. Tell them to listen and see if they were right. (5) Play the recording again and tell them to underline the stressed words.
