What things are acceptable when you're at the dinnertable and what things are against traditional manners
First I'll tell you some of the most important Englishrules of table manners. When you sit down to eat, youshould place the napkin across your laps. You shouldnever talk with your mouth full but should chew withyour mouth closed. If someone asks you a question whileyou're chewing, you should finish chewing and thenswallow the food before answering. Salt and pepper willbe at the table, but you should taste your food beforeadding any. Only put' food on someone else's plate ifthey ask for it. If they say they don't want anything elseto eat or drink, then you won't give them anything else.Don't use your knife or fork to point at others becauseit's considered rude.
In China it's rude to point with your chopsticks. It'scommon to place food into your friends' bowls and toput drink in their glasses even after they've said they don't want any more. Talking while you're eating isn't considered impolite.
Manners are different all over the world and can evenchange in different parts of a country. Have you ever seena foreigner do something that you thought was impolite Is there anything you've done that they might view asimpolite If you have, leave the message on the page tolet more people notice the different table manners.
