一、教学目标:
1. Learn famous Chinese festivals and western festivals and learn how to celebrate them.
2. Guess the meaning of the words according to the pictures.
3. Discuss the favorite festivals.
二、教学重难点:

Step 1.Checking the preview (检查预习情况,交流预习成果,疑难问题)
Check the prevision and correct them..
Step 2. Presentation
1 . Free talk :Talk about the festivals
show the students some objects and pictures, such as a moon cake, a red packet…
T: What’s this
S: It’s a moon cake.
T: When do you eat moon cakes
S: At Mid-Autumn Festival.
T: When is Mid-Autumn Festival
S: On August 15th (lunar). (find the date from the calenda)
(T: When there is a festival in the calenda, we can see the Chinese characters. Read ‘festival’ after me, please.)
Ask information about other festivals like this.
2. Show the pictures of Halloween, Mid-Autumn Festival, New Year’s Day, Christmas, Dragon Boat Festival and Thanksgiving Day, let the student tell the name of these festivals.
3. Divide students in groups of four, discuss how to celebrate them , at the same time, teach the new words.
4.Show the description of these festivals at the same time, let the students use the name of these festivals to complete the sentences.
5. Let the students look at the six pictures and discuss:
Which is your favourite festival
Why do you like it
6. Discuss other festivals:

7. Exercises
Step prehension:
1. Listen to the tape and answer these questions:
1).What festivals are Eddie and Hobo celebrating? Halloween
2).Are they happy Yes, they are.
3).What is Hobo dressing up as He is dressing up as a ghost.
4).What will he dress up then He will dress up as Monkey King.
2. Students read it together.
3. Practice in pairs and act it in the front of the classroom.

Today, we have learned different festivals from China and western countries. China has a long history, we should protect our traditional festivals.

1. Recite new words and the dialogue.
