final thoughts
My time here in China is going well. I love my new school and classmates. Over the October holiday, my parents and I are planning to go to Xi’an to see the Terracotta Army. I’ve heard that it is an amazing sight, and I can’t wait to go. To me, the story of the Terracotta Army is almost unbelievable. It’s amazing that there are more than 8,000 statues, and no one in modern times knew about them until the 1970s.

Dear Richard,
I am glad to tell you that my parents and I are going to travel to Beijing, the capital city of China and home to a number of well-known places of interest.
On our first day of travelling, we are planning to visit the Great Wall, a great wonder created by ancient Chinese people as well as one of the most famous tourist attractions in China. Not until visitors climb the Great Wall will they admire the beauty of it. I can’t wait to visit it!Besides, equally attractive is the Palace Museum where visitors are able to enjoy the amazing scenery. Moreover, recognized as “Chinese treasure house”, the Imperial Palace is also a magnet / m ɡn t/(有吸引力的事物)for me where we will be exposed to (接触)the artistic conception (美学意境) of ancient Chinese architecture.
I’ll buy you a souvenir and I am looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Your friend,
Xiao Li
Dear Richard,
Thanks for your letter sharing your travel plan with me. I am pleased that you are having a good time. I am also going to visit some places of interest in the upcoming holiday and here is my travel plan.
My parents and I are going to Beijing. On our first day of the journey, visiting the Great Wall is definitely a must-see. Hailed as one of the iconic symbols of China, the Great Wall is like a dragon winding up and down, which we can’t afford to miss. I can’t wait to go hiking there and enjoy the dramatic landscape! Besides, the Forbidden City is also a magnet for me. Listed as World Cultural Heritage, it houses many Chinese cultural and historical relics and treasures.
Visiting this ancient palace with artistic conception (意境) and finding out the traces and marks of ancient royal life must be an amazing experience! Moreover, I would like to pay a visit to Peking University and Tsinghua University, the top universities in China. Finally, we will go shopping there and enjoy the local food. The Beijing roast duck is a must-taste!
We plan to go there by plane. Since we are staying for a week, we plan on having a rest after arrival and then hitting the sights the next day.
I’ll buy you a souvenir and I am looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Your friend,
Xiao Li
