(1)whether...or...意为“不管是……还是……”,引导让步状语从句。引导让步状语从句的引导词还有:while,though,although,as,even though,even if,no matter+疑问词,疑问词+ever等。
(2)while引导让步状语从句时常置于句首。
(3)though引导让步状语从句时可以用倒装语序,也可以用正常语序;as引导让步状语从句时必须用倒装语序,通常提前至从句句首的成分有:表语、状语、谓语中的实义动词。
(4)当主从句的主语一致且从句的谓语部分含有be动词时,可以将从句的主语和be动词省去,构成状语从句的省略形式。
