Unit 5 The value of money
period 4 reading for writing教学设计
课题 Write a dramatic scene 单元 Unit 5 学科 English 年级 高一
教材分析 This part of the play is from the famous play "Million Pounds" by American writer Mark Twain. The Reading for Writing in this unit is Act 2, Scene 1. It is also a continuation of learning after Reading and thinking (Act 1, Scene 3). It can even be regarded as a "continuation" of the script. Henry walks into a tailor's shop and wants to buy a suit jacket. As in the restaurant experience in an earlier scene in the novel, he is treated rudely at first, but when he takes out his million-pound note, he is treated like a gentleman of high society. This scene once again presents the ugly image of people in capitalist society in front of "millions of pounds". During this period, the class will focus on reading for thinking. Students are expected to get the skill to write a scene of a play. The teachers would inspire students to master the skill to make scene work.
学情分析 This is the first time for students to come into contact with English drama, and some of them have a slight understanding of the Chinese version or film version of the drama. They can establish a connection with the English script based on their existing knowledge and film clips, guide students to feel the emotion and attitude of the characters conveyed by the drama language through role-reading, and stimulate their learning motivation and enthusiasm.
