Warm-up :
Greet the students and ask them about their favorite mode of transportation.
Encourage them to share why they prefer that mode of transportation and any memorable travel experiences they have had.
Vocabulary Introduction:
Introduce vocabulary related to different modes of transportation, such as car, train, plane, bus, bicycle, and walking.
Show pictures or real-life examples of each mode of transportation and encourage students to identify and pronounce the words.
Write the vocabulary words on the board and practice pronunciation as a class.
Speaking Activity - Preference Poll :
Distribute the handouts with vocabulary and discussion questions to the students.
Explain that they will be taking part in a preference poll where they express their favorite mode of transportation and provide reasons.
Divide the class into pairs or small groups.
Instruct them to take turns asking each other about their preferred mode of transportation and recording the responses.
After the poll, encourage students to share their findings with the class, highlighting the most popular mode of transportation and the reasons provided.
Listening Comprehension :
Play an audio recording or read aloud a passage about different modes of transportation and their benefits and drawbacks.
Ask the students to listen carefully and take notes on the information presented.
Conduct a class discussion about the passage and ask questions to check comprehension, such as:
What are some advantages and disadvantages of each mode of transportation mentioned in the passage
Which mode of transportation do you find the most interesting Why
Can you think of any other advantages or disadvantages that were not mentioned
Group Discussion - Debating the Best Way to Travel :
Divide the class into two groups: one arguing for traveling by car and the other arguing for traveling by public transportation.
Provide each group with discussion questions related to their assigned mode of transportation, such as cost, convenience, environmental impact, and efficiency.
Allow time for each group to discuss their viewpoints and prepare arguments to support their stance.
Conduct a debate, where each group presents their arguments and counters the opposing group’s points.
Encourage students to express their opinions and engage in a respectful and balanced discussion.
Writing Activity - Opinion Essay :
