Starter Unit 1 Good morning! 3a-4d(教学设计)
教材分析 What:These are four conversations among four different pairs of students. The contents of the first three conversations are about greeting each other respectively in the morning, afternoon and evening. The content of the last one is about greeting each other by using “How are you ” . Why:Let students know how to greet each other at different period in a day and enhance their understanding of the form and meaning of communication. How:The words of the conversations are very simple, which is suitable for the new middle school students’ learning condition. The conversations provide various ways of greeting to students so that they will be more familiar with greeting.
教学目标 By the end of this lesson, students will be able to: 1. 语言能力:understand how to greet others respectively in the morning, afternoon and evening and know how to pronounce letter A and E. 2. 学习能力:know how to pronounce new words by learning the different pronunciations and summarize what they learned by using mind map. 3. 文化意识:know various ways of greeting in English so that they more realize the culture diversity; improve the sensitivity and discrimination of cultural differences between China and foreign countries. 4. 思 维 品质 :watch the video with questions and think accordingly to improve the ability of observation and discrimination; internalize and revise the knowledge to spell new words after learning related phonological knowledge.
教学重与 难点 Teaching important points: understand how to greet others respectively in the morning, afternoon and evening and know how to pronounce A and E.
Predicted parts of difficult points: know how to pronounce new words by learning the different pronunciations and summarize what they learned by using mind map.

Lead in (5’)
Step 1 T greets students. Then T invites students to sing with the video about alphabet. Ss sing with the video about alphabet. Video can arose students’ scheme and create an active classroom atmosphere.
Step 2 T asks Ss to read letter A to H together. Ss read letter A to H together It can help students to review the letters.

Pre-listening (5’)
Step 3 T invites Ss to watch a video about greeting and then answer the questions. Ss answer two questions after watching a video. Video can attract Ss and give Ss a interesting knowledge input. Questions can help them think seriously.
Step 4 T teaches Ss the meaning Learning meaning the of them can
of “Good morning”, “Good afternoon”,“Good evening”“Good night” . Ss learn the meaning of them. lay a good foundation of following listening and speaking.

While-listening (15’)
Step 6 T plays the recording for the first time to ask Ss to finish 3a. T plays the recording for the second time to ask Ss to complete the conversations. After that. T invites Ss to practice. Ss listen to the record two times, finish 3a for the first time and complete the conversations for the second time. And then Ss practice. It can help Ss improve their ability of listening and speaking.
Step 7 T play the conversation in 3c, asks Ss to repeat it, and teaches them the knowledge of “How are you ” . Ss listen to the conversation , repeat it and learn the knowledge of “How are you ” . Learning of “How are you ” can increase their knowledge of greeting.
Step 8 T asks Ss to practice the conversation in 3c with classmates. Ss practice the conversation in 3cwith classmates. Practicing of conversation can advance their ability of speaking and listening.

Post-listening (10’)
Step 9 T leads Ss to review the letter A to H and let them recall which are vowels and which are consonants. Then, T stimulates their thinking by asking “Do you know how to pronounce them in different words Ss review the letter A to H. Then they think about the question. Reviewing can help Ss recall the knowledge and then thinking can help them practice their thinking ability.
Step 10 T invites students to listen to 4b and to find difference. And then T teaches Ss to learn the pronunciation rules about letter A and E. Ss listen to 4b and learn the learn the pronunciation rules about letter A and E. Listening can help Ss improve their ability of discrimination and rules learning can lay a good foundation for following practice.
Step 11 T asks students to finish 4c and play a game about the knowledge. Ss finish 4c and actively play the game. Practice can strength their control of the knowledge.

Step14 T gives a mind map about what are learned today. Ss recall the learned knowledge of today. Mind map and summary of new knowledge can help students further understand and remember them.

Homework (2’) 1. Practice the conversation in 3c with your deskmates. 2. Copy “Good morning”,“Good afternoon”,“Good evening”,“Good night” for three times with Chinese meaning 3. Memorize the language points in this class. Homework can help students strengthen the knowledge which they have learned.
