Starter Unit 2 What’s this in English 3a-4d(教学设计)
教材分析 What : These is a conversation about asking others about identifying objects. The content includes how to communicate and how to ask for spelling of a word when the speaker don’t know the English word of an object. Why:Let students know how to asking others about identifying objects and enhance their communication ability. How :The situation of the conversations provides many words of items which can help students to know more things around them. The conversation includes the usage of “spell” which can help students to understand and control it.
教学目标 By the end of this lesson, students will be able to: 1. 语言能力:Master key vocabulary and sentence patterns and the different sounds of the letters I to R in open and closed syllables; correctly use the learned sentence structure to simply identify and ask about items. 2. 学习能力:Learn how to pronounce new words by learning pronunciation rules and obtain relevant information by listening to the recording to improve my listening and speaking ability. In listening, speaking, reading training, improve the comprehensive English ability, cultivate the fun of learning English. 3. 文化意识:Understand the methods of asking and identifying objects, and recognize the Chinese and English terms of different objects, so that students can realize the diversity of cultures, improve students' basic ability to compare and judge cultural similarities and differences. 4. 思维品质:After learning related phonological knowledge, I can think, internalize and revise the knowledge to spell new words, and improve my ability of criticism and innovation.

Lead in (5’)
Step 1 T greets students. Then T invites students to play a game of puzzles to review the words that have been learned in last class. Ss play a game of puzzles to review the words. The form of game can arose students’ scheme and create an active classroom atmosphere.

Pre-listening (5’)
Step 2 T asks Ss to complete the words in 3a and then show the right answer to Ss. Ss finish pleting the words can help students advance the spelling of the word
and lay a good foundation for the following learning.
Step 3 T shows a complete conversation including “spell” , lets Ss to guess the meaning of spell and then teaches them how to use it. Ss read the conversation and guess the meaning of spell and then learn the usage of spell. Learning the meaning of them can lay a good foundation of following listening and speaking.

While-listening (10’)
Step 4 T plays the recording in 3a and them show the right answers to Ss. Ss listen to the recording in 3a and finish it. It can help Ss improve their ability of listening and speaking.
Step 5 T plays the recording for the first time to ask Ss to guess what talks about. T plays the recording for the second times to ask Ss to complete the conversations and for the third times to repeat it. Last, T asks Ss to practice the conversation by using Ss listen to the recording three times for different purposes and practice the conversation with classmates. It can help Ss improve their ability of listening and speaking.Practicing of conversation can advance their ability of speaking and listening.

Step 6 T asks Ss to finish 3d. Ss finish 3d. 3c is a practice which can help Ss advance what they have learned.

Post-listening (15’)
Step 7 T shows some pictures of letter I to R and then ask them to read and recall how to write them. Last T asks Ss which are vowels and which are consonants and finish 4a and 4b to strengthen the reviewing. Ss look at pictures, review the knowledge and then finish 4a and 4b. Reviewing can help Ss recall the knowledge and then thinking can help them practice their thinking ability.
Step 8 T plays the recording in 4c and lets Ss to review the different pronunciations of letter A and E and firstly feel the the different pronunciations of letter I and O. Ss listen to 4c, review the different pronunciations of letter A and E and firstly feel the the different pronunciations of letter I and O. Listening can help Ss improve their ability of discrimination and rules learning can lay a good foundation for following practice.
T leads Ss to review the pronunciation rules, teaches them the different pronunciations of letter I and O and leads them pronounce the examples in Ss review the pronunciation rules and learn the different pronunciations of letter I and O. Learning of pronunciation rules can help them realize more pronunciation rules of English which is beneficial

Step 9 T plays a game with students about the knowledge and asks them to finish 4d Ss actively play a game and finish 4d. Practice can strength their control of the knowledge.

Exercise (5’)
Step10 T asks Ss to finish the exercises on ppt. Ss finish the exercises on ppt. Practice in time can help test students' knowledge of this class.

Conclusion (3’)
Step11 T gives a mind map about what are learned today. Ss recall the learned knowledge of today. Mind map and summary of new knowledge can help students further understand and remember them.
