①②⑥为从属连词that引导的表语从句。that在从句中 ,没有任何意义,只起连接作用。

一、表语从句的含义
在句中充当表语的从句称为表语从句。这种从句往往是对主句主语的进一步解释说明。
二、表语从句的连接词
从属连词:that,whether;
连接代词:what,whatever,who,whom,whoever,whose,which,whichever;
连接副词:where,when,how,why。
三、表语从句的用法
1.从属连词that和whether引导的表语从句
(1)that引导的表语从句
that引导表语从句时仅起连接作用,无任何意义,在从句中不作任何成分,通常不可省略。
The trouble is that I have lost his address.
问题是我把他的地址弄丢了。
(2)whether引导的表语从句
whether引导表语从句时起连接作用,意为“是否”,在从句中不作任何成分。
What he wants to know is whether we can finish our work by tomorrow morning.
他想知道的是我们能否在明天早上之前完成工作。

2.连接代词引导的表语从句
连接代词who,whom,whose,what,which,whoever,whatever,whichever在表语从句中充当主语、宾语或定语。
The problem is who we can get to replace her.
问题是我们能找谁来代替她。
All that you should let me know is whose turn it is to take charge of the project next.
你应该让我知道的是,下一个轮到谁负责这个项目。
3.连接副词引导的表语从句
连接副词 when,where,how,why 除在句中起连接作用外,在从句中还充当时间、地点、方式或原因状语,本身具有词义。
The question is how he did it.
问题是他是如何做到的。
Their difficulty is where they can raise enough money.
他们的困难在于哪里可以筹集到足够的资金。
4.as if/as though等引导的表语从句
as if,as though引导的表语从句可用陈述语气,也可用虚拟语气。此类表语从句常跟在特定的动词后面,如seem,appear,look,taste,sound,feel等。
Now it seems as though she had known Millie for years.
现在好像她认识米莉已有好多年了似的。

如as if/as though引导的表语从句用虚拟语气,遵循以下原则:
(1)从句表示与现在事实相反,谓语动词用一般过去时。
(2)从句表示与过去事实相反,谓语动词用“had+过去分词”。
(3)从句表示与将来事实相反,谓语动词用“would/could/might+动词原形”。
5.because引导的表语从句
because说明主语所表示的事件发生的原因,意为“因为”。
It’s just because he doesn’t know her.
这仅仅是因为他不认识她。
四、表语从句注意事项
1.that与what的区别
that引导表语从句时,是连词,在从句中不作成分;what是连接代词,引导表语从句时,在从句中作主语、宾语、表语或定语。
That was what she did this morning on her way to school.(作did的宾语)
那就是她今天早晨在去学校的路上做过的事。
2.because与why的区别
that’s because...意为“那是因为……”,强调原因;that’s why...意为“那是……的原因”,强调结果。
I didn’t phone her,and that’s why she got angry with me.(强调“生气”这一结果)
我没有给她打电话,那就是她对我生气的原因。
I didn’t phone her,and that’s because I got angry with her.(强调“生气”这一原因)
我没有给她打电话,那是因为我生她的气了。
【名师点睛】
名词reason作主语时,后面的表语从句表示原因时要用that引导,而不用because。
the reason why...is that...为固定句型,意为“……的原因是……”,why引导的定语从句,修饰先行词reason,其中why也可以用for which替换;that引导表语从句。
The reason why/for which his parents were disappointed was that he failed in the exam.
他父母失望的原因是他没有通过考试。
3.表语从句中的虚拟语气
在表语从句中,表示间接的命令、要求、请求、建议、决定等,主句中的主语通常是advice,suggestion,proposal,request,order,idea等,从句谓语形式是“(should+)动词原形”。
His suggestion is that we(should) adjust our plan to new conditions.他的建议是我们应该根据新的情况调整我们的计划。
Her request is that the doctor(should)be sent for at once.她要求立即派人请医生来。
