三、教材分析
本单元的主要话题是描述动物,表达个人喜好,并说明理由。该部分的学习内容涉及动物,是学生比较喜欢的话题,贴近学生生活,极易激发学生的主动性和学习兴趣。本节课学习动物的单词,及表述喜欢的原因。教学中的各项活动都围绕动物展开。学生们运用英语简单描述自己喜欢的动物,进一步培养和激发他们热爱动物、保护动物、维护生态平衡的朴素情怀。
四、教学目标:
1. 语言知识目标:
1) 能掌握以下单词:animal, tiger, elephant, panda, lion, koala, giraffe, cute, lazy, smart, beautiful, scary, kind, kind of, Australia, south, Africa, South Africa
2) 能掌握以下句型:
① What animals do you/does she/ does he like
② Let’s see the …
③ Why do you/does she/ does he want to see …
④ Because they are ….
2. 能力目标:
① To observe and describe animals.
② To talk about their preferences
③ To know the implied meaning of some animals
3. 情感态度与价值观目标:
动物和人类都生活在同一地球上,动物是我们的朋友。我们人类应该与动物和谐相处,共同生存。我们应当学会关爱动物,保护动物。
4. 可渗透的法制内容:《中华人民共和国野生动物保护法》第八条 国家保 护野生动物及其生存环境,禁止任何单位和个人非法猎捕或者破坏。
五、教学重难点
1. 教学重点:
1) 学会描述动物的性格及特点。
2) 学会表达喜欢某类动物及说明喜欢的原因。
2. 教学难点:
名词的复数形式表示一类事物;第三人称单数形式

教学过程
Step1 Warming-up and lead in (4 minutes)
The teacher shows a piece of movie about animals on PPT.Let the students watch it carefully and think what they are.Then they speak them out quickly.They can use Chinese.
T:They are animals.“animal” means“动物”in Chinese!(Write the word “animal”on the blackboard and teach it. )
【设计意图:通过播放动物的视频引起学生的兴趣,把学生引入英语学习的氛围中。】
Step2 Presentation(8 minutes)
1.Animal words.Show the class some pictures of animals and present other animals. And ask them:
What’s this in English
It's a tiger. (Then lion, panda, elephant, koala, giraffe)
The teacher leads them to read ,the students try to remember the new words of the animals in 1a with the help of pictures.

2.Finish 1a. Glue the pictures on the blackboard and ask one student to match the pictures with the words on the cards. Other students turn to page 25 and finish 1a.
3.Check the answers with the class.

4.Game (Guessing game.)
Show some pictures on the big screen. Let Ss guess what animal it is. Ss try to guess and remember the names of the animals.

Step3 Cultivation of legal consciousness(4 minutes)
T:Do you like these animals
Ss:Yes,we do.
T:Animals are our friends;We should make friends with them and love them.But many animals are in danger.Some of them were killed;Some are losing their homes because some people cut down too many trees.To protect animals,our country makes a law --《中华人民共和国野生动物保护法》.
Show some pictures of the animals in danger,and show the following law on big screen.
《中华人民共和国野生动物保护法》第八条 国家保护野生动物及其生存环境,禁止任何单位和个人非法猎捕或者破坏。
As a student,we should obey the laws,we can’t break them.Let’s remember we people should be friendly to the animals.Don’t kill them any more.Let them live in peace.We save them,we also save ourselves.

Step4 Listening (4 minutes)
Work on 1b.
Tell Ss to listen to the tape and check the animals they hear in 1a. Play the recording again and check the answers with the class.
Step5 Practice(1c) (6 minutes)
Learn words of adj
1)Show the pictures of cute. fun. lazy interesting. smart. beautiful and learn on the big screen.
2)Point to the picture of pandas and say “They are cute /fun/lazy...
2. Learn to make conversions
A:What animals do you like
B:I like pandas.
A:Let’s see the pandas first.
B:Why do you want to see the pandas
A:Because they are interesting...

Ss work with their partners practice the conversation using the animal in 1a.

Step6 Listening(10 minutes)
Show a map of the world on the big screen,and point to China,Australia,and South Africa.Lead students to read and remember the words of the places.
Work on 2a
T: Listen to the conversation carefully. Then write the names of the animals you hear on these lines.Play the recording the first time. Students only listen.Play the recording a second time. This time students write the names of the animals
Check the answers.
Point out the adjectives and countries listed on the right. Ask a student to say the words.Say, Now I will play the recording again. This time draw a line between each animal and the adjective and countries you hear.Play the recording and have students match each animal with an adjective and a country.
Correct the answers.
2. Work on 2b
T: Listen again and complete the conversation with the words in 2a.
Play the recording for the Ss to listen and write the answers.
Check the answers with the class.

Step7 Pair work (8 minutes)
Ask two students to read the conversation in 2b to the class.
2. Ss practice the conversation in pairs.
3. Make an interview like this:
A:Excuse me,I am a school reporter.Can I ask you some questions
B:Sure.
A:Do you like animals
B:Yes,I do.
A:What animals do you like
B:I like...
A:Why do you like them
B:Because they are cute/interesting...
A:Where are they from
B:They are from...
A:Thank you very much.
B:You’re welcome.
Give them five minutes,ask three pairs to role play the interview.

Homework: (1 minute)
1.(必做)1) Remember the new words and expressions in this period.
2) Role-play the conversation after class.
