句型梳理

—I study by working witha group.我是通过小组学习的方式
问句是由 how引导的特殊疑问句,how 意思是“如何,怎样”;答语中的“by working with a group”是对 how的回答
by 为介词,意思是“通过,由”;后面接动词时,要用-ing 形式。
举例:—How do you learn English 你怎样学英语
—I learn English by reading a lot.我是通过大量阅读来学习英语的。
2. What about listening to tapes 听磁带怎么样呢
“What about... ”相当于“How about... ”,是一种固定用法。常用来表示征求对方意见或向对方提出建议。about为介词,故该短语后接名词、代词、动词-ing 形式作宾语。
I've learned a lot that way.(通过)那种方法我学了很多。
此句时态为现在完成时,现在完成时的谓语动词的构成是:have/has+动词的过去分词,当主语是第三人称单数时助动词要用has。
thatway在句中作方式状语,这个短语前省略了介词 in,由way构成的短语作方式状语时,其前面的介词通常省略。
如:Come this way, please(this way 前面省略介词along)

It's too hard to understand spoken English. 理解英语口语太难了
此句it 为形式主语,真正的主语是动词不定式短语“to understand spoken English”,“too+adj.十to do"结构意思是“太……以至于不能……”。此结构表面是个肯定句,实质是表示否定,too后接形容词,to后接动词原形。
too...to...的用法
(1)必须特别指出的是,并不是所有“too...to..”结构的句子都表示否定意义,在下列情况下,“too...to..”结构可以表示肯定意义:“too...to...”结构之前带有 butonly allnever、not时,是强调肯定的表示法,译作“非常......”“十分......”“实在……”“真是太……”等。
例如: I am but too glad to do so我非常喜欢这样做
(2)too...to...结构与...enough to...结构及 so...that..结构
的相互转换。
将too...to...结构转换为...enough to...结构时要注意:enough前的形容词或副词须是 too后面形容词或副词的反义词;...enough to...句式须用否定式;too...to...结构有逻辑主语时,..enough to...结构也要加上逻辑主语。
例如: She is too young to do the work. – She isn't old enough to do the work.
将 too...to...结构转换为 so...that..结构时要注意:so…that...结构是复合句,so的后面接形容词或副词,that 的后面接从句;that后面的从句要用否定形式。例如:
She is too young to do the work. – She is so young that she can't do the work
5. I also realized I could get the meaning by listening for just the key words我也意识到我能够通过只听关键词来掌握句子的 意思。
这是一个省略了that 的复合句,“I also realized”是主句“I could get the meaning by listening for just the key words”是宾语从句。要注意的是主句是过去时,从句也应该用过去相应的时态。
语法讲解
“by+动词-ing形式”表方式、方法
“by+动词-ing形式”在句子中作状语,表示方式方法等,by在此结构中有“通过,借助,用(某种方式或方法)”等含义。此外,“by+动词-ing形式”常用来回答how引导的特殊疑问句。
例:Mr.Green makes a living by teaching.格林先生以教书为生。

—I learn by watching English movies我通过观看英文电影学习。
(1)“by+表示交通工具的名词(名词前不加冠词)”意为“乘/驾驶/坐……”
I went to Beijing by train我乘火车去的北京
Wang Ling often goes to school by bike.王玲经常骑自行车去上学。
(2)“by+时间"意为“不迟于;在……之前”。
I must get to school by 7:30. 我必须在7:30之前到校。
(3)“by+ 地点”意为“在……旁边;经过……"
We live by the sea我们住在海边。
They came in by the back door.他们从后门进来了
(4)“by+人"意为“由某人创作”。
I read a play by Shakespeare. 我读了一部莎士比亚写的戏剧。
