fall 作动词时有不同的含义,其过去式是 fell。
① fall 意为”下落,跌落”。
e.g. The apple fell from the apple tree.
苹果从树上掉下来。
其常用的短语有:fall off… 从……上掉下;fall over 摔落;fall down 跌落。
② fall 作连系动词,意为“进入”。
e.g. It’s difficult for me to fall asleep after drinking tea.
对我来说,喝完茶后很难入睡。
其常见的短语有:fall behind 落后, 掉队;fall in love with… 爱上……等。
③ fall 还可意为”发生”。
e.g. My little sister’s birthday falls on June 15th every year.

on a/the tree 一般表示树上自然生长
