fall 作动词时有不同的含义，其过去式是 fell。
① fall 意为”下落，跌落”。
e.g. The apple fell from the apple tree.
苹果从树上掉下来。
其常用的短语有：fall off… 从……上掉下；fall over 摔落；fall down 跌落。
② fall 作连系动词，意为“进入”。
e.g. It’s difficult for me to fall asleep after drinking tea.
对我来说，喝完茶后很难入睡。
其常见的短语有：fall behind 落后， 掉队；fall in love with… 爱上……等。
③ fall 还可意为”发生”。
e.g. My little sister’s birthday falls on June 15th every year.

in a/the tree 不属于树上生长的东西
on a/the tree 一般表示树上自然生长
“在树上”可用in或on,区别如下：

①if “如果” 引导条件状语从句，遵循“主将从现”原则
