Learning more about Halloween
Halloween means All Hallows Eve. It is a Catholic ['k θ lik] (天主教的） holiday . Halloween is one of the world’s oldest holidays. Several countries around the world celebrate it ,like the USA, Canada, England, Ireland, Mexico, Latin America, and Spain.
Halloween comes from the
ancient Celtic ['kelt k] (古代凯尔特人） festival. The
Celtic people lived over
2,000 years ago. The Celtic
people celebrated the New
Year on November 1st of
every year. This date
marked（标志） the end of
summer and the beginning
of winter. And this time of
year often associated with
human death（与死亡相联系.）
There are many traditions
for Halloween, such as
wearing costumes,
trick-or-treating,
carving pumpkins, and
having parties with friends
and family members.
As a tradition, children go from door to door on Halloween and collect candy, treats, and toys with their friends.
