stop doing sth. 意为“停止做某事”, 指将正在干的事停下来。stop to do sth. 指停止手头所做的事情去做另外一件事情。

Alan Robinson and Walter Macfarlane live in Oahu, Hawaii. They first met when they were in the sixth grade. Soon they became best friends. They stayed best friends for more than 60 years. Then, late last year, they found out they are something more.
