The car is one of the most useful inventions in history. But the number of cars has increased so fast. Parking has been a problem for drivers for a long time in our city, Tieling. There are about 100 thousand cars on the road. And the local people have a strong interest in buying cars. There will be more and more cars in the future.
Now the parking space in Tieling is only for 15 percent of these cars. If one parking lot is for each car, then lots of parking space should be built for these cars. But the center of Tieling is short of parking space.
However, some engineers point out that simply building more parking lots in these areas is not practical(实际的)and can't solve the problem. The idea of “Park&Ride" system(系统) has been suggested. This means that underground trains and city trains should be developed quickly.Drivers can leave their cars in car parks nearby subways and bus stations, and then they can take subways and buses to the city center. According to this idea, the city will reduce(减少)the total(总数) of parking lots in the city center. And parking cars will cost higher fees(费用) in this area.
