Located west of Lop Nor, the ancient city of Loulan used to be a small country on the ancient Silk Road, which linked China and the West as an important centre of trade historically. However, the year 630 AD witnessed this great city disappeared mysteriously. What people can see nowadays is only its ruins. Though scientists and archaeologists worldwide throw themselves into investigating its cause, no notable hard proof has been found.
