(2022湖北鄂东南联盟学校期中联考)
I remember the day when Dad first brought home the heavy accordion(手风琴). He gathered my mother and me in the living room and opened the case as if it were a treasure. My thin smile didn’t match his broad grin, because I had wished for a guitar or a piano.
Shortly after my lessons began, I was ordered to practice half an hour every day. Gradually, I was able to string notes together and play simple songs.
Someday, I found a case at home. Overcome with curiosity, I opened it and saw a beautiful violin. “It’s your father’s,” Mom said. “His parents bought it for him. I guess he got too busy on the farm to ever learn to play it.” I tried to imagine Dad’s rough hands on this delicate instrument—and couldn’t.
With the fall school concert nearing, I would have to play a solo on a local movie theater’s stage. I wanted to skip the whole thing.
Emotions boiled over in the car on one Sunday afternoon. “I don’t want to play a solo,” I said. “You have to,” replied my father.
“Why ” I shouted. “Because you didn’t get to play your violin when you were a kid Why should I have to play this stupid instrument when you never had to play yours ” Dad pulled the car over.
“Because you can bring people joy with ease.” He added softly, “Someday you’ll have the chance I never had: you’ll rely on it and play dramatic music for your family.”
I was speechless. I had rarely heard Dad speak with such feeling about anything, much less the accordion.
On the evening of the concert,I walked onto the stage and performed without a mistake. Dad slipped an arm around me and held me close. “You were just great,” he said. Then he shook my hand and was slow to let it go.
Dad never learned to produce sweet sounds from his violin. Yet he was wrong to think he would never play music for his family. Every time my husband and children laughed and danced, hearing my accordion, I knew it was my father’s music.

While rap (说唱音乐) songs are made up of many parts, the verse(主歌部分) is by far the most important. 1 . Writing rap verses is an incredible method of artistic expression, as long as you keep a few tips in mind.
Begin by free writing lines about your topic. Using your topic as a starting point, start writing out lines of your thoughts, trying to rhyme(使押韵) the last word in each line. Once you’ve exhausted a set of rhymes, start another one and write lines until you run out of ideas. Explore ideas around your topic until you find the ones you enjoy or know best. 2 —this first stage is used to create material to build your verse.
Build a rhyme scheme(格式) around your favorite lines. A rhyme scheme is a pattern that gives your verse structure. 3 . If, for example, you rhyme the first two lines with the word “me”, then the next two lines rhyme with the word “you”, then you have rhyming couplets. For the rest of the verse, you would usually use couplets in all of your rhymes.
Start with a powerful line. The first lines of your verse should introduce the verse and capture the listener’s attention. Ask a question, make an interesting metaphor, or blow the listener away with skillful wordplay. 4 .
Develop a flow, or rhythm, in your rap. Once you’ve got your words on the page, you need to figure out how to say them. Flow is how a rapper delivers his/her lyrics in along with the beat. Listen again to the beat you are rapping and practice fitting your lyrics to it.
5 . As you practice your flow, don’t be afraid to go back and rewrite your verse so that it fits the beat better. If you are having trouble fitting all the words in, find a way to shorten your lines. Once you know what the chorus is, you can adjust your lyrics to fit the song better.
A.Get to know your beat well
B.Rewrite your verse to fit the beat
C.Most rappers have mixed rhyme schemes
D.Don’t worry just yet about making your lines perfect
E.You can think of it as a blueprint of which lines need to rhyme
F.Anything to introduce the verse and make yourself stand out will be OK
G.That’s because it is where a rapper develops the ideas of the song in depth

阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
I Owe You Thanks
Mrs. Crawley, a large woman, often worked into night at a hotel’s beauty shop. She was walking alone with a large heavy backpack at about eleven o’clock one night when a boy named Jack ran up behind her and tried to snatch(抢走) her pack.
The pack’s strap(带子) broke. The boy’s weight and the weight of the pack combined to cause him to lose his balance, so Jack fell on his back on the sidewalk. Mrs. Crawley simply turned around and picked the boy up by his shirt front.
The woman did not release Jack. “I’m very sorry, lady. I’m sorry,” he whispered in an embarrassed(尴尬的) voice.
Mrs. Crawley said, looking at his face, “Now I had a great mind to wash your face. It’s dirty! Did you have nobody home to tell you to wash your face ”
“No, ma’am,” said Jack.
“Then it will get washed this evening,” said Mrs. Crawley starting up the street and dragging Jack behind her. “You ought to be my son. I would teach you right from wrong. Least I can do right now is wash your face. Are you hungry ”
“Yes, ma’am,” said the boy being dragged. s
When getting to her door, Mrs. Crawley dragged Jack inside.
“You go to that sink and wash your face, and I’m going to fix us something to eat. You’re hungry—or have been hungry—to try to snatch my pack,” said the woman, turning Jack loose. He went to the sink.
“I wanted a pair of blue suede shoes,” said Jack.
“Well, you didn’t have to snatch my pack to get your suede shoes,” said Mrs. Crawley. “You could have asked me.”
“Ma’am ”
The water dripping from his face, Jack looked at her. There was a long pause. A very long pause.
Then supper was ready, with cakes cooked for them. Mrs. Crawley set the table.
注意:续写词数应为150左右。
Paragraph 1:
She did not ask Jack anything that would embarrass him as they ate.
Paragraph 2:
