About 80% of people do not get enough vitamin (维生素) D every day. But this vitamin is very important for your health.
Vitamin D is really important for our bones (骨骼). When we are young, vitamin D builds up our bones and makes them strong. When we are older, we still need vitamin D to keep our bones strong. Our bodies keep the vitamin D in our bones and teeth. Then we lose vitamin D as
we work and exercise during the day. But our bodies can't make vitamin D, so we have to get it from outside of our bodies.
Where can a person get this very important vitamin Vitamin D is in foods like fish and eggs. Sometimes, vitamin D is added to bread, milk, and orange juice. Food is not the only way our bodies can get vitamin D. The sun also gives us vitamin D. If we want to be healthy, we should spend some time in the sun each day. B[2023兰州中考改编]
There is a great need to search for clean and renewable (可再生的) energy to meet our needs. It seems that wind energy is a good choice. Do you know anything about wind energy
The first advantage of wind energy is that it is truly a renewable resource. No matter how much wind we use to produce electricity, we will never reduce the supply(供应) of wind. This is its greatest advantage compared with non-renewable resources like coal or oil. Second,
wind energy is a clean source of energy, which means it produces environment-friendly electricity. What's more, the large towers, which provide the base for the wind turbines (涡轮机), don't take up lots of space. They can share land with farms.
However, each coin has two sides. That is to say wind energy does have some disadvantages. Wind does not provide supply of energy without stopping. Even the windiest places on earth have periods of calm. If there isn't a strong wind, wind turbines are not able to produce
electricity. The large blades of wind turbines can be very dangerous for birds and bats. The turbines cause noise pollution. It can also be bad to people living around.
Although wind energy has disadvantages, its advantages shouldn't be forgotten.

When night falls in the Netherlands, lights dance across a farm and create an amazing landscape. Here, in a field, art meets with agriculture(农业). Yet, there is more than what meets the eye; these lights also provide higher productivity.
This magic field is part of a project called GROW and was created by Dutch designer Daan Roosegaarde, who lives in the city and has a dream to connect people to the farmland in a creative way.
His wish is to connect science to art, and in doing so, create a better world. In order to offer the world light in dark times, he set to work in a field of leeks(韭葱). Using the science of photobiology (光生物学), his team discovered that certain mix of red and blue lights increased plant growth. The team then positioned LEDs in different places across the field. These lights move up and down to make sure the light can reach every part of the area. And when these lights move at night, they seem to dance, creating a beautiful landscape.
Besides being beautiful and increasing growth, the team found out that because of these lights, they needed to use 50 percent fewer pesticides(杀虫剂) on the leeks.

The Alistrati Cave(阿里斯特拉蒂洞穴) in northern Greece(希腊) has a special tour guide called Persephone. It is a robot guide that can welcome visitors to the cave. It takes visitors through the first 150 meters of the cave and is able to introduce its part of the tour in 33 languages. It can talk with visitors in three languages. It can also answer 33 questions, but only in Greek.
A human guide then takes visitors through the remaining 750 meters of the 3-million-year-old cave.
Nikos Kartalis, the scientific director for the cave, had the idea of creating the robot tour guide when he saw one on TV taking visitors around an art gallery(美术馆). "We finally got support and Persephone was developed," Kartalis said. It was built by the National Technology and Research Foundation and cost ?$139,000.
"People are excited, especially the children, and people who have been here before are coming back to see the robot guide," Kartalis said.
"I should thank Persephone. The robot is really helpful," said Christos Tenis, a visitor.
Evdokia Karafera, one of the guides who work with Persephone, said visitors liked the robot. However, she believes that though robots can do a lot of jobs, they can hardly perform most of the tasks perfectly like humans. "They will never take the place of human guides," she said.

Squirrels(松鼠) are cute and interesting animals that can be found in many parts of the world. They are known for their long tails, big teeth, and the ability to climb trees.
They can jump up to 6 meters in height, and they can run up to 32 kilometers every hour.
Squirrels have soft bodies. Their eyes are high on their small heads and are placed on each side so they can see wide and far without having to turn around. This often helps them get out of danger.
Squirrels have four big teeth in the front of their mouth that keep growing all through their lives. They are known for their love of nuts(坚果), and they can eat as much food as their body weight each week. They will often keep nuts in the ground for the long winter months. Many people think that squirrels only eat nuts, but this isn't true.
They also like to eat plants, fruits, eggs, small animals and even young snakes.
One funny thing is that squirrels are good at planting trees. They hide the fruits of oak trees, but often forget where they put them. In the end, the forgotten fruits become big trees.

How do you greet your friends People from different cultures have different answers: shaking hands, nodding, bowing(鞠躬), kissing on the face. But have you ever wondered how animals "say hello" to each other Here are some examples.
Everyone knows how similar chimpanzees (黑猩猩) are to
humans. So it's no surprise that their greetings are also close to ours.
The most common ways of greeting between chimpanzees are hand
touching and hugging. Sometimes they also kiss each other. Some
chimpanzees can even learn simple sign language.
Giraffes seldom make loud sounds. Their necks can reach two
meters in length, making them useful in greeting each other. When two
giraffes meet, they may "shake" their necks and rub (摩擦) them
against each other. This is to feel how strong and tall the other is.
Dolphins greet one another with whistles (哨子声). They can
hear other dolphins from many kilometers away. Every dolphin has a
different whistle. When two groups of dolphins meet, they each choose
a member to "talk" to the other group. The two groups can then travel
together. Unlike most of other animals, dolphins are smart enough to
learn a new language by inventing and copying new sounds.

The Chinese pingfeng (folding screen) is an ancient invention and traditional Chinese furniture(家具). Its earliest common use dates from the Han Dynasty. The term pingfeng means protection from wind, showing its purpose at the very beginning.
As time passes, it has been made into different sizes with colourful paintings. On screens usually appears a dragon. It's a symbol of light,
growth and life-giving water. It also stands for nobility and power. The peacock, a beautiful bird, can be seen on screens, too. It's a symbol of everlasting life. Beautiful flowers, which mean wealth and good luck, are also chosen as a popular design of the pingfeng. All the designs carry people's beautiful wishes.
Behind the pingfeng lies an interesting story. In the past, the unmarried daughter of a rich family was not supposed to see or be seen by men except her father, brothers or very close male cousins. When an
admirer paid a visit, however, she might take a secret look at him from a screen behind which she would be completely hidden. Her father would discuss poems with the young man and ask him to create one. If the daughter and her father were satisfied with the young man's poem and his looks, she might agree to take him as a husband.
Today the pingfeng is back in fashion for its beauty and its practical(实际的) use as furniture. Acting as a moving wall or divider, it can be the perfect match(相配) for modern sofas and walls, which adds style to them.

We all have those moments when bright ideas hit us, but not everyone can develop such moments into the fruits of creative thinking. While we believe creative thinking is the falling apple of Isaac Newton, one of the greatest scientists, we seldom notice that creative thinking is in fact a process (过程).
Let's look at what happened in 1666.
Sitting in the garden, Newton watched an apple fall from a tree. He began to wonder if the same force that pulled the apple down also kept the moon circling the earth. Newton believed it did. He called it "gravity (重力)".
This story has become one of the most popular examples of "eureka" moments. But when we cheer for the great discovery, the whole process of creative thinking shouldn't be forgotten.
Newton studied mathematics for long to have a better understanding of the world. He always enjoyed finding new ways to solve problems. The falling apple was only the fruit of years of hard work before. It also started the train of thought that continued for the next twenty years.
Newton began to examine "gravity" carefully. He experimented (进行实验).Then he studied the results and used what he had learned to do new experiments. In 1687, the greatest scientific work ever written came out.
The whole process of creative thinking works the same in our life.
In school, we prepare ourselves for the right moment. Once the moment comes, we catch it and then keep on working in the years to come. It takes much to get the fruits of creative thinking, but the sweetest fruits will be ready for those who wait the longest.
