By drawing beautiful patterns on the surface of a cup of tea, Chabaixi, an ancient Chinese tea trick shown in the recent TV drama, has gone viral for its similarity with modern latte art(咖啡拉花艺术). Zhang Zhifeng, an artist of Chabaixi, was glad to see the TV drama brought the technique to people’s attention.
Chabaixi can create endless patterns such as bamboos and mountains or even Chinese characters. How can it be made There are over a dozen steps, from grinding(磨碎)tea for fine powder to pouring boiled water, stirring the mixture for thick froth(泡沫), and finally drawing the patterns. It is different from making latte because people use clear water as the object to put into the cup instead of milk. When the water touches the surface, it turns into white color and disappears in 20 minutes. The process before the drawing is known as the tea-making technique, diancha. The quality of diancha is extremely important to whether patterns can be successfully produced later.
“Chabaixi is one of the countless forms of tea-making techniques in China. This technique is not only unique in the world, but also it gives us a window into people’s lifestyle in the Song Dynasty, a period of time when free-time activities in some ways were like what we have now.” Zhang said.
Before Chabaixi was discovered by TV audiences, the technique was on the List of Intangible Culture Heritage(非物质文化遗产名录)of Fujian Province in 2017, after it was recovered by Zhang Zhifeng. He started researching Chabaixi in the 1980s and brought the technique back in 2009 after decades of practice.
Now with Zhang’s better skills in tea making, he is also performing and teaching Chabaixi in vocational school across China. About ten years ago, this special technique was close to disappearing completely. However, it is important to the tea culture and it would be a shame to let it fade. It is my duty to pass it on to the next generation.

Have you ever imagined being able to communicate with your pet at home and let them understand everything you say It sounds too good to be true, but scientists have started using artificial intelligence (Al) to help communicate with animals.
AI allows humans to use technology to watch and understand the sounds and signals (信号) animals use so we can try to speak back to them.
Professor Karen Bakker said that AI is already helping humans communicate with bats (蝙蝠) and bees. This could change what we know about nature and our non-human relationships.
Bakker said AI helped decode (解码) recordings of animals talking to one another. She said trying to communicate in their language could be better than to teach them to use human sign language.
Bakker explained how scientist Yossi Yoyel had used recordings and Al to understand bats. “Bats argue over food; they communicate differently between genders (性别) they have their names, or ‘signature calls’,” she said. “But unlike human mothers raise their voices when talking to babies, mother bats lower the voice.” A computer can be trained to listen like a bat, but this can never be done with the human ear.
With bees, the computer both listens and watches the bees’ body movement to understand what they are communicating. “When bees ‘speak’ to one another, they use body movements, as well as the sounds, to communicate,” Bakker said. She said scientists now know how bees say things such as “hush (be quiet)” or “stop”.
Scientist Tim Landgraf even created a robot bee that entered a hive (蜂巢) and it was able to communicate to other bees when it wanted them to stop doing something or fly.
So, are you looking forward to communicating with animals one day

五.例文
There’s no doubt that inventions play an important part in our everyday lives. They’ve made our lives more and more convenient. However, it’s necessary for us to make good use of them.
When I was in Grade Seven, I began to play games on my phone. The games were interesting and I felt kind of relaxed when playing. However, every coin has two sides. Gradually, I found that it was getting more and more difficult for me to pay attention in class. And since I seldom played sports with friends, I got heavier and heavier. Finally, I realized that though the phone is a great invention, I shouldn’t let it influence my schoolwork and health. So I made a decision to break the bad habit.
Now, I’m one of the top students in class and I’m much fitter. As you can see, though the phone is a great invention, we shouldn’t spend too much time on it.
