A study from the University of Montreal and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, published in Frontiers in Medicine, found that regular virtual visits to museums could help seniorsstay mentally active and come with a host of additional health benefits. That's because these digital connections can make retirees feel less lonely and isolated(孤立的).
Social isolation has been associated with the risks for heart disease and the decline of recognition abilities in seniors and the pandemic increased the risks due to the need for seniors to stay home and isolate, according to a press release from the university.
The researchers investigated the potential benefits of weekly virtual visits for a three-month period. The participants were people aged 65 and older who lived in Montreal. Half of the participants took part in online visits and a discussion afterwards, while the control group did not participate in any cultural events at all. The group who participated in the virtual visits showed improvements in their quality of life.“Our study showed that art-based activities may be an effective intervention,"lead author Dr.Olivier Beauchet, a professor at the University of Montreal, said in the press release. "On a global scale, this participatory art-based activity could become a model that could be offered in museums and arts institutions worldwide to promote active and healthy aging.”
The initiative reflects approaches recommended by the World Health Organization to manage certain diseases, according to Beauchet. For instance, the WHO launched the Aging and Health Program in 2015 that included using community-based organizations to promote culture as a key component of improving health. Traditionally, these sorts of preventive health activities have taken place in schools, community centers, and workplaces. “While these are suitable locations that reach a great number of people, there are additional organizations and sectors that coud become partners in public health research and practice development,” Beauchet said. "Museums are among such potential partners. They are aware of the needs of their communities and are consequently expanding the types of activities they offer.”
28. How do seniors benefit from regular virtual visits to museums
A.They improve quality of life.
B.They raise interest in art.
C. They get survival skills.
D.They connect more with family.
29.What can be inferred from Beauchet's words in Paragraph 3
A. Seniors should attend more art-based activities.
B.They improve quality of life.
C. Face-to-face discussion is a useful intervention.
D. Participants come from the whole world.
30. What is the purpose of the last paragraph
A.To entertain. B.To advocate
C. To advertise. D. To warn.
31. Which may be a suitable title fr the text
A. The Aged Form a Community to Reduce Loneliness

What is the purpose of lightning
Many are familiar with the potentially deadly dangers posed by lightning, which is blamed for an average of 43 deaths in the United States each year, based on data from 1989 to 2018. Although the odds of being struck are quite low-1 in 1,222,000 in a given year and 1 in 15,300 in a lifetime-many in the weather community have long urged people to take proper precautions to stay safe amid storms, which can frequently cause lightning, even without turning severe.
However, the researchers recently uncovered a surprising and beneficial impact of lightning. The Earth is struck by lightning nearly 20 million times each
year, and ligting can travel as much as 10 to 12 miles from a thunderstorm, instantly heating the air to 50,000 degrees Fahrenheit. Essentially, lightning occurs due to the buildup of electric charges in the atmosphere. In order to balance out the different charges, lightning is caused between two clouds or between a cloud and the ground.
The study was based on an airborne research flight conducted by a storm-chasing plane. The plane was used to examine the top portion of thunderstorm clouds. Researchers initially thought there was a problem with the equipmet on the plane, which was being used to measure the hydroxyl radicals(羟基自由基)in the atmosphere until they realized spikes they observed corresponded with lightning flashes.
Researchers previously understood that lightning could help to clean the atmosphere, but there was no evidence that it could generate compounds like these radicals. And the data showed surprising spikes of up to 1,000 more hydroxyl radicals than the normal value. As a result, the study estimates that somewhere between 2% and 16% of the cleaning that happens naturally in the Earth's atmosphere,is done by lightning.
Why is this significant The cleaning process helps to reduce chemicals like carbon monoxide and methane in the atmosphere. These chemicals, known for being greenhouse gases, have been proven to contribute to rising temperatures associated with climate change.
32.What is the best title for the text
A. Lighting happens in a flash
B. Lighting causes deaths every year
C. Lighting can help fight against global warming
D. Lighting reduces gases in the atmosphere
33. How many deaths did lighting causes in the United States from 1989 to 2018
A. Less than 1000 B. About 1300.
C. About 2000 D. More than1600
34. How does lighting clean the atmosphere
A. By generating carbon monoxide.
B. By increasing hydroxyl radicals.
C. By heating the air.
D. By reducing greenhouse gases.
35. What made researchers doubt the equipment on the plane
A.The electronic charges in the atmosphere
B. The times of lighting flashes
C.The top portion of thunderstorm clouds.
D. The increasing amount of hydroxyl radical.

Catherine was the coolest kid in her class. Whenever she went, she was in the spotlight, with a bunch of kids following her and doing everything she did.
Her deskmate, Landy, however, was not in the cool kids' group. Being the tallest kid in her class, she was teased by her classmates, who were always chanting “Landy,Landy, long as spaghetti(意大利面)”.Every time Landy heard those silly chants, she could feel her face burst into flames. God knew how she wished the ground to crack and swallow her!
Catherine didn't really like it when the kids chanted “Landy, Landy, long as spaghetti”.But she never told them to stop either, and nor did she ever talk to her. She liked being popular.
One weekend, Catherine went over to her grandfather for Thanksgiving. Her grandfather lives on a farm at the opposite end of town, where he keeps chickens. While helping to feed the chickens, Catherine noticed a peculiar one. Curling in the corner, it looked smaller than the others and was
almost half-bare!
“What's the matter with it ” She asked her grandfather, with a puzzled frown on her face. Her grandfather told her how chickens could act.“They have a pecking (啄) order,”he explained, wrinkles of concern spreading around his forehead. “If one chicken is different, the others will push it away and keep pecking it. Sometimes they peck it so much that it dies."
“Oh, what a poor little thing!” Catherine let out a sigh as she scooped the frightened chicken up in her arms, whose heart was beating fast in the bony little body. Suddenly, she thought of Landy, the girl being “pecked” by her classmates. “I'm going to take it home and take good care of it,” she said with a determined look.
Back in school, Catherine told the cool kids about the chicken. “It's looking healthy,” she said proudly. “It's fatter and its featbers are growing. Even the cat likes it. She carries it around the garden,and...”Everyone was entertained by Catherine's story of her lovely chicken, laughter lingering around the classroom.

第一节Possible version:
Dear teachers and fellow students,
It’s my great honor to stand here and present a speech about the worrying situation in our school. You may have noticed that a large numbers of students don’t like doing physical exercise, which obviously has bad effects both on our health and study.
As a result, I strongly appeal to you all to stick to the practice of physical exercise every morning, which helps start a happy and pleasant day. Besides, you’d better make full use of the PE class and ten-minute breaks to work out so that you will feel refreshed and more energetic in class. Last of all, time permitting, you can take part in the colorful after-school activities, such as playing basketball and doing rope skipping on the playground. I am sure you will find them interesting and beneficial.
Do take good care of our health, and you’re bound to enjoy a bright future.
That’s all! Thanks for all your attention!
第二节 Possible version:
Then Catherine spotted Landy sitting by herself in a corner. She kept her head down with her eyes fixed on the floor as usual. It hit Catherine that the pecking order worked in school, too. Landy was just like the poor little chicken, being teased and ignored by her classmates, merely due to her special height. “It’s time for me to make an apology to Landy.” Catherine thought to herself. No sooner had she made up her mind than she announced it to the cool kids surrounding her. Astonished at what she said, all the kids burst out screaming, “Talking to the long spaghetti Are you crazy ”
But Catherine walked directly toward Landy, regardless of what they said. “Hi, Landy. I’m sorry about the spaghetti thing.” Catherine murmured an apology, her face reddening. “I know it hurts you. Can you forgive us ” She figured Landy might just walk away. But she lifted her misty eyes and nodded yes. Catherine wiped away her tears, giving her a warm hug. Moved by the scene, the other kids also came to offer their sincere apologies to Landy. From that day on, no one made up silly chants about Landy, and Catherine also gained an important life lesson that everyone should be treated equally no matter how special he or she was
