As I walk along the road, I notice a seed starting to grow through the ground. A seed of a flower can sit in a bag for years. Having no friends, it is just waiting for an opportunity to be planted.
When it is planted, it starts to grow. The little seed breaks through the hard ground to reach sunlight. You see, once it gets the right environment and the right soil, water and sunlight, it will grow into a beautiful flower in the end.
It is the same with people. We are like the seed in the bag, waiting for the right opportunity to grow. In order to make full use of our potential(潜质), we need to get the right environment. We need to be close to positive people, who have dreams and want to succeed. We also need to get the right soil, water and sunlight; we need to water ourselves with love from others.
Life is just like the seed. It is your choice. You can choose to plant yourself and grow to realize your full potential. Dogs are very sociable(合群的)animals. When owners go out and leave their dogs alone, the dogs get worried and upset. Dogs should be trained to be their own while still young instead of when they are older and set in their ways. When owners are not around, they should provide some toys for their dogs to play with.Leaving the radio or television on might also provide relaxing background noise.
Howling(嗥叫)is a form of communication.Dogs do it to tell one another where they are. Some dogs howl when they are lonely, while others do it when greeting strangers whom they are seeing for the first time. Some even howl to music and do this because it is fun.
When it comes to training dogs, giving rewards is a far better way than using punishment. Food makes an excellent reward, and if they do not respond(作出反应)to this, owners should try touching. A 15-year-old student from Sichuan, named Wei Fang, was preparing a talk on Western festivals. She searched online for information and made a PowerPoint slide(幻灯片). Zhu Hui, her classmate, was doing his chemistry homework. But he couldn't work out the last problem even though he had tried his best. So he took out his smart phone, opened a special app and searched for the problem. Solutions appeared on his screen after several seconds.
Like Wei and Zhu, nowadays, many students do their homework with the help of the Internet. They search for information online, or discuss with their classmates through QQ and WeChat.
"It's convenient. You don't have to wait for your teacher to explain it to you face to face." According to Zhu, you can also learn by seeing how others work the problems out. What's more, it improves students problem-solving abilities. This is especially true for homework that requires some research work. "I am now quite skilled at finding information online," Zhu added.
However, this trend(趋势) also causes problems. Some lazy students just copy the answers from the Internet without thinking on their own. Some even let their classmates do their homework for them. And their teachers may not know this.
But knowing how to use the Internet is important. The key is to have good self-control. When you meet a difficult problem, think about it by yourself first. Be sure to understand the reasons behind the answers after you have turned to the Internet, or you won't make any progress. If you are not sure about your self-control, ask your parents for help.

Recent research shows spending two or three hours playing outdoors each day can reduce the chance of becoming myopic. It challenges the belief (观点) that myopia is caused by computer use, watching TV or reading in the weak light.
The Australian government researchers believe that the sunlight is good for people's eyes. They compared the vision(视力)and habits of 100 seven-year-old children in Singapore and Australia. In all, 30% of the Singaporean children were short-sighted — this rate(比率) was ten times higher than that of Australian children. Both groups spent a similar amount of time reading, watching television and playing computer games. However, the Singaporean children spent an average of only half an hour a day outdoors — 90 minutes less than the Australian children did.
Professor Ian Morgan, from the Australian Research Council's vision center, said, "Humans are naturally long-sighted. But when people begin to go to school and spend little or no time outdoors, the number of short-sighted people gets larger." We’re also seeing more and more short-sighted children in cities all around the world and the main reason maybe that city children spend less time outdoors.
Daylight can be hundreds of times brighter than indoor light. But why does playing outside prevent us from becoming short-sighted Scientists believe that natural light has a special chemical which stops the eyeball from growing out of shape and prevents people from becoming short-sighted.
So be outdoors. It doesn't matter if that time is spent having a picnic or doing sports.

Cycads (苏铁) grow in warm places. They are tall and green all year round. Their leaves grow on the top and flowers seldom come out. Some have orange fruits. They usually need many years to grow into adult plants.
Cycads are facing problems now. In South Africa, the situation of cycads is getting terrible, but this has drawn little attention from the public. "In fact, there are 38 kinds of cycads in South Africa. Among them, 2 kinds have disappeared since 2003 and 25 kinds are in great danger," said a gardener. "Do you know what the loneliest plant is in the world It is the Wood's Cycad. Someone found it in a forest in 1895. It is the only one of its kind."
So what causes cycads to be in danger Surprisingly, the danger is from the people who love them most. These slow-growing adult cycads even sell for tens of thousands of dollars each. As time goes by, they have become a symbol (象征) of wealth and position (地位) in society. This makes cycad lovers want to own more. Cycad lovers buy and plant them in their private gardens. As a result, nearly all these cycads die because the living conditions have changed.

One possible version:
As we all know, it's common for us to meet unknown words in English learning. Some choose to use paper dictionaries, while others prefer to use e-dictionaries. They think it's convenient and can save more time.
In my opinion, we should use paper dictionaries in our study. Our purpose is to learn and master knowledge, not just to know a word. Using a paper dictionary can give us a better understanding of words, so that we can really learn how to use them properly. What's more, too much usage of electronic dictionaries can make us lazy and lose the ability to think independently. So I think we should use paper dictionaries more.
