动名词(短语)作主语
【教材原句】Setting goals gives you a focus in life. 设定目标让你在生活中有了焦点。
●动名词(短语)作主语,谓语动词常用单数;两个或两个以上的动名词作主语时,
谓语动词根据情况用单数(指一件事)或复数(指两/多件事)。
●动名词(短语)作主语时,常常放在句首;当表语为no use,no good,any good等
词组或useless,nice,good,interesting等形容词时,句首常用it作形式主语,而将动
名词后置。
●动名词(短语)作主语时,如果要突出动作的执行者,在动名词(短语)前加上其
逻辑主语,其逻辑主语要用名词所有格或形容词性物主代词,不能用名词的普通格或
人称代词宾格。

一、句子的基本成分
1. 主语(subject):指句子的主体,说明谓语所表示的动作或状态的执行者。名词(短语)、代词、数词、不定式、动名词(短语)和从句等皆可作主语。
Seeing is believing. 百闻不如一见。
It is said that she is a promising player. 据说她是一个很有希望的队员。(It是形式主语,that从句是真正主语)
2. 谓语(verb):指谓语部分的主要动词,用来描述主语的行为动作或所处的状态,有人称、数和时态的变化。实义动词可以单独作谓语,情态动词和助动词需要和实义动词一起构成谓语。
I would like to invite all my friends here. 我想把所有的朋友都邀请到这里来。
Don't get off the bus until it has stopped. 公共汽车停稳后再下车。
3. 宾语(object):指动作的对象或承受者,一般位于及物动词或介词后面。有些动词后面可以接两个宾语,其中表示人的宾语为间接宾语,表示物的宾语为直接宾语。
Lizzie bought herself a mountain bike. 莉齐给自己买了一辆山地自行车。
I now look forward to going back to work as soon as possible. 我现在盼望尽快回到工作中。
4. 补语(complement):补语分为主语补足语(subject complement)和宾语补足语(object complement),用来补充说明主语或宾语的特征或情况。注意主动语态中的宾语补足语可以转化为被动语态中的主语补足语。
I saw him playing basketball yesterday. 昨天我看到他在打篮球。(宾语补足语)
He was seen playing basketball yesterday. 昨天有人看到他在打篮球。(主语补足语)
5. 状语(adverbial):修饰动词、形容词、副词或句子。充当状语的有副词、介词短语、不定式、分词、形容词、名词和从句等。
The student makes great progress with the help of the teacher. 在老师的帮助下,这个学生取得很大的进步。
To get a good view, he climbed to the top of the hill. 为了能看得清楚,他爬到了山顶上。
6. 表语(predicative):指系动词之后的成分,用来说明主语的特征、类属、状态、身份等。充当表语的可以是单词、短语或从句。
My wish is to become an artist. 我的愿望是当一名艺术家。
It is amazing that the little child can speak four languages. 这个小孩会说四种语言,真令人惊讶。
7. 定语(attributive):修饰名词或代词,它常和名词构成名词短语。定语可分为前置定语和后置定语。
The ground is covered with fallen leaves. 地上满是落叶。
The girl is eager for an opportunity to join the club. 这个女孩渴望有机会加入这个俱乐部。

二、句子结构
英语中最基本的句式结构有八种,其他各种句式都是由这八种基本结构演变而来。八种基本句子结构如下:
1. 主谓:主语+谓语(SV)。在这个结构中,谓语动词是不及物动词。
The red sun is rising.

2. 主系表:主语+(连)系动词+表语(SVP)。在这个结构中,谓语必须是系动词。
The flower smells sweet.

3. 主谓宾:主语+谓语+宾语(SVO)。在这个结构中,谓语动词是及物动词,后面必须接宾语。
She likes swimming.

4. 主谓宾宾:主语+谓语+间接宾语+直接宾语(SVOO)。当把直接宾语放到间接宾语之前时,间接宾语前加适当的介词。
Mr Smith lent me his car.

5. 主谓宾补:主语+谓语+宾语+宾语补足语(SVOC)。宾语和宾语补足语统称为复合宾语。

6. 主谓状:主语+谓语+状语(SVA)。
