作文范文
Ladies and gentlemen,
Good morning!I’m Li Hua, chairman of the Student Union. On behalf of our school, I feel greatly privileged to make a speech with the theme of how to deal with conflicts with our parents .
As is known to us all, we often have conflicts with our parents in our daily life,as they often look into our schoolbags or read our diaries. I fully understand why we are not comfortable about it, but there's no need to feel too sad or get annoyed. The reason is that our parents are checking our bags or diaries to make sure we're not getting into any trouble. They have probably heard some horrible stories about other kids and thought we might do the same. Or perhaps they just want to connect with us but in a wrong way .( 现象)
My conductive suggestions are as follows. On the one hand,it is very important for our parents to emphasize the significance of family time spent with us,listening to children patiently;do trust us as much as we'd like to trust them. On the other hand ,it would be beneficial for us children to choose a proper way of communication by writing them a letter or sending a message to convey our true ideas sincerely, which can contribute to a deep understanding between us. Additionally ,children should boost their awareness of communicating with their parents. In my opinion, most problems between parents and children could be solved by joint efforts of both sides to enhance mutual understanding. It is love and understanding that can make a harmonious family .I hope you will find the advice practical.
That’s all.Thank you for listening!

M: I have to sign up for it first. I guess I will go sign up for the Wednesday class tomorrow.
W: Now that your problem is solved, I need you to lend me a hand with my problem. I need to build a new doll house for my sister Nancy. I accidentally broke her doll house. But I told her that I would build a better one for her. So, I need your help.
M: OK. I like to build doll houses. Let’s make it together. After that, we can go to the library for some reading, shall we

Text10:
W: Good afternoon and welcome to Seattle Houseboat Tours. My name’s Elizabeth Jones and I’m your guide today. This is my houseboat Moonlight. Before we go on board, I’d like to give you a little background information. Seattle has one of the largest numbers of houseboats in the US—about 500 of them in fact. That’s quite a high number and shows how popular houseboat living is here. We’re at the southern end of Lake Union right now. As you have probably seen already, this is a lively area with restaurants and shops and cafes. During our one-hour tour, you’ll see a number of houseboats. People can pay millions of dollars for the biggest of these. Some of them are quite amazing and have two or three floors. My own is one of the smallest boats, but I still have plenty of room, as you’ll see when I show you around. My living area includes one bedroom with a bathroom, a kitchen and a living room. I also have electricity, running water and network, so I really do have everything I need. You may be interested to know that I’m writing a book on the history of houseboats in the city, and this should be on sale from early July. Well, thank you for listening so far. Now let’s move into the boat and start the tour.仁寿第一中学校2023-2024学年高一上学期11月月考

第一节(共 15小题;每小题 2.5分,满分 37.5分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的 A、B、C、D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。
A
Sharon, Aged 22
The most important thing to keep in mind when going into high school is to be yourself. Besides, I don’t know what your middle school was like, but high school teachers will not care about things such as how much homework you already have in one night. It’s best to just learn to deal with things and manage your time wisely so you can achieve everything you need to.
Frank, Aged 21
I think almost every kid feels both nervous and excited before their first day. You will
probably love it. I know I did. You should join some sports or activities that will make your high school experience more enjoyable. Good luck!
Eddie, Aged 20
When I started high school I was really nervous too, especially since I had been homeschooled
all through middle school and didn’t really know anyone. I suppose the best advice would be to just relax. The first couple of days can be a little bit hard, but things will become easier before you know it.
David, Aged 19
I’m not going to lie. The first day is kind of frightening. But you’ll get used to it. Don’t be afraid of anyone; upperclassmen will pick on you more if you let them know you’re afraid. Just take it easy. Making some friends and staying with them will greatly help you get used to high school quickly. After the first week it’s really not bad at all. Don’t worry.
21.What can we infer from Sharon about high school
Teachers are quite strict.
Students often stay up at night.
Teachers provide little care for students.
Students should make good use of their time.
22.How did Eddie feel on his first day of high school
A. Excited. B. Bored. C. Worried. D. Relaxed.
23.Who mentions the importance of friends
A. Frank. B. David. C. Sharon. D. Eddie.
B
I’m a seventeen-year-old boy preparing for my A Level exams at the end of the year. In the society where my peers (同龄人) and I live, we tend to accept the rat race values. As students, we want to get good grades so that we can get good jobs. I enjoy studying and have consistently received A’s in my classes. There was a year when I finished first in my class in the final exams. It was a great accomplishment.
Another one I am pleased with is that I managed to improve the relationship between Mum
and Dad. Dad was a successful businessman who was rarely at home. Mum was a housewife who always felt bored and constantly nagged (唠叨) him to let her go to work. Their constant arguing bothered me, so I advised Dad that Mum would be better off with a part-time job. He agreed, and their relationship has improved since then.
My most proud achievement, however, is my successful work in the local old folks’ home. My
grandparents had raised me since I was a child. I wept (哭泣) bitterly when they died. Unlike many of my classmates, I do not take part in my school’s community service to earn points. I enjoy my voluntary work and believe I’m contributing to a worthwhile cause. This is where I can help. I talk to the elderly, assist them with their daily life, and listen to their problems, glory days and the hardships they experienced.
Last year, I hosted a successful New Year party for the elderly and they enjoyed a great time.
Many expressed a desire to attend another party the following year. When I reflect on my accomplishments, I’m especially proud of my service at the old folks’ home, so I hope to study social work at university and work as a social worker in the future. I wish to be more skilled in attending to the less fortunate as well as find great satisfaction in it, after all.
What can be inferred about the author from the first paragraph
His good grades got him a good job.
He refuses to compete with his peers fiercely.
His views on social values are well known.
He is content with his scholastic achievements.
Which role does the author play in his parents’ relationship
A. A helper. B. A judge. C. A monitor. D. A supporter.
What is the greatest accomplishment for the author
A. The contribution to volunteering. B. The success in exams.
C. The recovery of confidence in life. D. The work in community service.
Why does the author want to major in social work at university
To gain a well-paid job. B. To give his life a purpose.
C.To better help the disadvantaged. D.To meet his grandparents’ expectations.
C
“Creativity is the key to a brighter future,” say education and business experts. Here is how schools and parents can encourage this important skill in children.
If Dick Drew had listened to his boss in 1925, we might not have the product that we now think greatly important: a new type of tape. Drew worked for the Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company. At work he developed a kind of material strong enough to hold things together. But his boss told him not to think more about the idea. Finally, using his own time, Drew improved the tape, which now is used everywhere by many people. And his former company learned from its mistake. Now it encourages people to spend 15 percent of their working time just thinking about and developing new ideas.
Creativity is not something one is just born with, nor is it necessarily a character of high intelligence. The fact that a person is highly intelligent does not mean that he uses it creatively. Creativity is the matter of using the resources one has to produce new ideas that are good for something.
Unfortunately, schools have not tried to encourage creativity. With strong attention to test results and the development of reading, writing and mathematical skills, many educators give up creativity for correct answers. The result is that children can gain information but can’t recognize ways to use it in new situations. They may know the rules correctly but they are unable to use them to work out practical problems.
It is important to give children choices. From the earliest age, children should be allowed to make decisions and understand their results. Even if it’s choosing between two food items for lunch, decision-making helps thinking skills. As children grow older, parents should try to let them decide how to use their time or spend their money. This is because the most important character of creative people is a very strong desire to find a way out of trouble.
28.What did the company where Drew once worked learn from its mistake
It should encourage people to work a longer time.
People should be discouraged to think freely.
People will do better if they pay all attention to their work.
It is necessary for people to spend some of their working time developing new ideas. 29.What can we know from the passage about creativity
It is something that most people are born with.
It is something that has nothing to do with intelligence at all.
It is a way of using what one has learned to work out new problems.
It is something that is not important to the life in the future at all.
30.Why don’t schools try to encourage creativity
They don’t attach importance to creativity education.
They don’t want their students to make mistakes.
They pay no attention to examination marks.
They think it impossible to develop creativity in class.
31.What should the parents do when their children decide how to spend their money
Allow them to have a try.
Try to help them as much as possible.
Take no notice of whatever they do.
Order them to spend the least money.
D
Several years ago, my father decided to volunteer at the local children hospital. My dad loved kids. It was the perfect job for him. He would talk to them and play with them and do arts and crafts with them.
There was a girl, Karen, who had been admitted with a rare disease that paralyzed (使麻痹) her from the neck down. She was very depressed. My dad decided to try to help her. He started visiting her in her room, bringing paints, brushes and paper. He stood the paper up against a backing, put the paintbrush in his mouth and began to paint. He didn’t use his hands at all. Only his head would move. He would visit her whenever he could and paint for her, telling her, “See, you can do anything you set your mind to.”
At the end of the day, she began to paint using her mouth, and she and my dad became friends. Soon after, the little girl was discharged (允许出院) because the doctors felt there was nothing else they could do for her. Some time later, my dad was at the volunteer counter in the lobby (门厅) of the hospital when Karen came in. She ran straight over to my dad and hugged him really tight. She gave my dad a picture she had done using her hands. At the bottom it read “Thank you for helping me walk”.
My dad would cry every time he told us this story. He would say sometimes love is more powerful than doctors, and my dad who died just a few months after the little girl gave him the picture—loved every single child in that hospital.
32.Why did the writer’s father decided to volunteer at the local children hospital
To practice doing arts and crafts.
To cheer up the children there.
To find a perfect job.
To help treat the patients.
33.How did the writer’s father help the paralyzed little girl
He painted special pictures for her.
He helped her practice walking.
He visited her and made a toy for her.
He showed her she could still do things despite her disease.
34.Why did the little girl give the writer’s father a picture
Because he liked pictures very much.
Because she wanted to show her appreciation for his help.
Because he was badly ill.
Because her mother wanted her to do that.
35.What can we infer from the passage
The girl was discharged after she had recovered from her disease.
The girl became a famous painter at the end.
Love has a magic power and can make wonders.
My dad regretted helping the girl.
