We had a heated debate on whether the Internet helps friendships last Friday. Different students hold different opinions.
Some students hold the belief that the Internet helps friendships. In their opinion, not only does the Internet make communication much more convenient, but also it is more fun to communicate online. What matters most is that friends from all over the world can immediately provide useful suggestions or information to people in need. However, some others hold the opposite opinion. The reason (why they think so) is that talking online is no replacement for face-to-face contact and some people may only be concerned with their online popularity.
In my opinion, every coin has two sides. It is the attitude towards online friendship that counts. Only by taking advantage of the Internet properly and smartly can we develop healthy online friendships.
