连接两个并列成分，如主语、谓语、宾语、表语、状语等，但所强调的重点是后面的部分。

当not only ... but also ... 连接两个主语时，遵循就近原则，谓语动词与后一个主语在人称和数上保持一致。
e.g. Not only the students but also the teacher is very happy.
三、单元写作
本单元以“谈论个人及他人的喜好”为话题而展开，具体谈论了喜爱的音乐及其缘由。在生活中可供我们讨论的话题有很多，除音乐外，如喜爱的书籍、电影、老师、运动等。写这类作文首先要确定时态，多用一般现在时；其次写清楚自己的喜好，并说明自己喜爱的理由，同时也可谈谈自己的看法和感想。
One possible version:
My favorite kind of music is pop music. Days of my Past is my favorite song. I like it because it is beautiful. And it has great lyrics that describe the real school life.
The song was written by Luo Dayou and sung by Zhang Aijia in 1982. When I listen to it, I always think of my old school. It not only recalls the happy time of my childhood but also reminds me to cherish time and the people around me.
I think you should listen to it, because it can recall you the unusual experience and bring you hope and beautiful vision for the future, too.
