Pre-task preparation 1. Ask Ss: What do you want to do next weekend Get them to make suggestions for activities using “Shall we… ” Compile a list on the board. 2. Ask Ss to express the suggestions using “What about… ” “Why not… ” “Let’s…, shall we ”
While-task procedure 1. Ask Ss to practise the dialogue below: 1) A: Shall we play basketball I like playing basketball. B: So do I. 2) A: Shall we play computer games B: No, I don’t like playing computer games. C: Neither do I. 2. Have them practise the new sentence patterns more. I like playing tennis. So do I. I don’t like playing badminton. Neither do I. I like collecting stamps. So do I. I have lunch at school. So do I. I don’t go shopping with my father. Neither do I. Peter eats a lot of crisps. So does Alice. Peter doesn’t eat enough vegetables or fruit. Neither does Alice. We don’t like shopping. Neither do we. We like having barbecues. So do they. 3. Tell Ss that Mr Hu and the students are spending their weekend at Health Camp. Ask them to listen to the tape and fill in the blanks. Conclusion: 1) Both Peter and Alice like playing badminton. 2) Peter doesn’t like swimming. Neither does Joe. 3) Joe likes watching DVDs. So does Jill. 4. In groups of five, students practise the dialogue. Select groups to read out the dialogue. 5. In groups, students practise Ask and Answer.
Post-task activities 1. Write a programme of activities for your outing. Then act it out. 2. Ask them to have a listening comprehension.
