Unit 8 Section B 2a-2e
1. Every year it receives more than 750,000 visitors.
receive v.
e.g. Yesterday I received his gift, but I didn’t accept it so I returned it to him.
I’ve received a present from Jeff, but I’m not going to accept it.
Project Hope has helped lots of poor children receive good education.
1) Laura received some flowers yesterday, but she didn’t know if she should accept them.
2) Dick received lots of support from his parents.
3) Every year the hotel receives guests from all over the world.
2.They think the stones can prevent illness and keep people healthy.
prevent v. We should do something to prevent pollution / it.
(from) doing sth.
(from) doing sth.和keep sb. from doing sth.。如:We must do something to prevent the news (from) spreading.=We must do something to stop the news (from) spreading.=We must do something to keep the news from spreading.
What should we do to prevent the flu in spring
We must take effective measures to prevent traffic accidents from growing..
3.The large stones were put together in a certain way.
e.g. The doctor is only at this hospital on certain days.
4.As you walk there, you can feel the energy from your feet move up your body.
e.g. We felt the house shake.
5.“And perhaps we might never know , but we do know they must have been hardworking --- and great planners!”
must have been doing:
He must have been trying his best to study. She is so tired .She must have been working all the morning.
He did go there yesterday.
She does sing well.
