Fortunately for them, the Bank of England has a team called Mutilated Ladies which deals with claims from people who fed their money to a machine or to their dogs.
(1) Structure: the past participle phrase “called Mutilated Ladies …” is used as an attributive to modify “a team”, it can be replaced by an attributive clause “which is called Mutilated Ladies …”. Inside the past participle phrase “which” introduces an attributive clause to modify “Mutilated Ladies ”. Again inside the attributive clause “who” introduces an attributive clause to modify “people”.过去分词短语“called Mutilated Ladies …”做定语修饰“a team”,可以换成定语从句“which is called Mutilated Ladies …”.过去分词短语中又出现了“which”引导的定语从句来修饰“Mutilated Ladies ”,定语从句中又出现了“who”引导的定语从句来修饰“people”。

A recent case concerns Jane Butlin whose fiance, John, runs a successful furniture business.
(1) Structure: “whose” introduces an attributive clause to modify “Jane Butlin ”. Inside the attributive clause “John” is used as an appositive to modify “whose fiance”. “whose”引导定语从句来修饰“Jane Butlin ”,定语从句中 “John”做“whose fiance”的同位语。

Jane opened the oven door and saw that her meal was ready to serve. She took the food out of the oven and in doing so, noticed something strange inside the oven which she couldn’t realize. So she went to find John and told him about it. In dismay, John quickly explained that he had put his wallet containing the day’s takings into the oven for safekeeping. They both rushed to the oven and saw that the money had been destroyed. At first, they didn’t know what to do. John wanted to throw the money away, but Jane wouldn’t let him do so. “It’s best not to disturb the wallet,” Jane said. “you can see all the money is there, even if it has been destroyed. Jane told John to go and see his bank manager for advice, so the next day John took the wallet and the ashes to he bank.
