表示一方超过另一方时，用“形容词的比较级+than”结构。

(1) 形容词的比较级前可加程度副词(much, far, a lot, a little, even, still等)或用数量词组修饰，表示“……得多”“甚至……” “更……”。China is much larger than Japan.
中国比日本大得多。
My mother is two years older than my father.
我母亲比我父亲大两岁。
(2) 形容词的比较级前可用表示倍数的词
组修饰。
This bridge is three times longer than that one.
这座桥比那座桥长三倍。(3) 形容词比较级要避免与自身进行比较，要用”比较级+than any other+单数可数名词”来表示“比其他的任何……都……”
Lin Tao is older than any other student in the class.
林涛比班上其他任何同学的年龄都大。
若不在同一范围内比较，则不用other。
Shanghai is larger than any city in Japan.(4) 带形容词的比较级的惯用结构：“比较级+and+比较级” 和“more and more+形容词”，意为“越来越……”;“the+比较级, the +比较级”意为“越……, 越……”。
