I.情态动词may/ might
情态动词，在英文中主要用来表示说话人的看法、态度等。
特点：
1）各个情态动词自身都有一定的词义。
2）情态动词不能在句中独立担当谓语。
3）情态动词在句中不受任何人称,性别和数变化的影响。
4) 情态动词后接动词原形。
英文中的情态动词主要有：can , could ; may , might ; must ; need 等。另外，shall , will , should , would在一定的场合也可用作情态动词。
may/ might 的用法
情态动词may / might，没有人称和数的变化，在句子中不能单独作谓语。后面直接跟动词原形（即不带to 的不定式）构成合成谓语，常用于下列几种情况：
1. may/ might表示请求许可时，译为"可以"。might表示的语气更加委婉、在回答提问时常常用cannot、must not来表达否定意思。
例如：
May I leave the book with you？
我可以把这本书交给你吗？
Yes，you may / can.
No，you can’t / mustn’'t.
2. may/ might表示可能性时，常译成“也许，可能”等,might 的可能性比may要小。这时，否定形式常用may not/might not。例如：
She may/ might go to Shanghai next week.
下周她可能到上海去。
Bring your swimsuit because you might want to
swim in the sea.
He may（may not） come here tomorrow.
他明天也许会（不会）来这儿。
