Recently, my
husband and three kids were playing in Mediterranean (地中海), swimming and floating in the picture perfect sea. It was
ridiculously beautiful in Majorca, Spain. The way the sun danced across the
water and how the blue horizon was dotted with storybook sailboats were such
beautiful scenes.
My husband and I
always dreamed about taking our kids on a trip around the world. It was one of
the things we talked at length about. When we imagined our life with the
children, we hoped we would have.
Fourteen years
later, we had three boys who were growing up faster by the day. It was time to make
good on those plans. We renewed our passports, and then packed our bags. We
showed our kids the world. It was about experiencing the dozens of flights and
trains and taxis together. We showed them how wonderful, how diverse, and how
fascinating the world is. We wanted them to learn all that we had learned
ourselves, through our own travels.
But there was
something more than that: What we really wanted is to slow down time. We wanted
the days to last a bit longer, and the weeks to take their time. The years with
our children are going too fast. We wanted to put the brakes on our busy lives
for a year, and just be with our kids. We wanted a break from the daily morning
routine of making lunches, eating breakfast and going out the door in time for
school. We needed family time out.
It was the
wonderful two months in Europe, full of incredible moments. When we look back
at our lives, I know we'll be glad we did it. I know we'll be happy that this
is a chapter of the story of our family.

C.The transportation. D.The diverse world.
(4)What was the most important in the writer's eyes
A.Doing everything slowly. B.Living a busy life.
C.Sticking to the routine. D.Slowing down the time.

Germans have a word
"wanderlust" which translated into English would be the desire to
wander. Nowadays the opportunity to travel is endless. Thanks to low cost
airfares, travelling all over the world is very accessible and sometimes it's
even cheaper to fly out of the country than to travel within your own.
I have always had
the feeling of wanderlust. As a young girl it started from me wanting to
explore my local woods at the back of my garden. With me growing up, I have a
sense of adventure. And I found my local woods being replaced with the
Brazilian wetland, Pantanal, where I went last summer in search of jaguars,
snakes and crocodiles.
The thing with
travelling is always different. Even if you go to the same country, to the same
town and stay in the exact same rest house, it would be a completely different
experience. The people you meet will be different, and they will tell you their
own travelling stories: stories of holiday romances, holiday horrors and
stories that seem so suspect that you can hardly believe them until something ridiculous
happens to you and you find yourself becoming one of those people telling your
tales. Or maybe the difference is yourself.
When you travel you
are forced to be in harmony with a new culture. Whether it's eating a strange
food, or staying with a family, where neither of you speak a common language
and you have to communicate through hand movements and smiles, the
experience gives me itchy feet to do it all again. And although wanderlust
is originally a German word, the English idiom reflects a similar idea. Someone
with that needs to leave or travel. This feeling to explore is found not only
in language but in us.
(1)Why is the Brazilian wetland mentioned in Paragraph 2
A.The author's garden lies near it.
B.It's similar to the author's hometown.
C.It's the desirable place for travel lovers.
D.The author intends to share her nature.
(2)What do we know from Paragraph 3
A.There are many ridiculous travel stories.
B.Travel can change the way people view things.
C.The author prefers to go to the same country.
D.It's interesting to know local culture and people.
(3)What does the author mean by the underlined sentence in Paragraph 4
A.She feels the urge to take a tour once more.
B.The situation leaves her much discomfort.
C.Her feet feels too tired when she is abroad.
D.The experience makes her lose confidence.
(4)In which section of a website can we read the text
A.Hobbies of the Germans. B.Life around the world.
C.Fashion on the earth. D.City tours and tips.

A tiny Alaska
village has experienced a boom in tourism in recent years as polar bears spend
more time on land than on Arctic sea ice.
More than 2,000
people visited the northern Alaska village of Kaktovik in 2018 to see polar
bears in the wild. The far north community lies in an area where increasingly
higher temperature has sped up the movement of sea ice, the primary habitat (栖息地) of polar bears. As ice has gradually moved to deep water beyond
the continental shelf, more bears are remaining on land to look for food.
Polar bears have
always been a common sight on sea ice near Kaktovik, but villagers started
noticing a change in the mid 1990s. More bears seemed to stay on land, and
researchers began taking note of more female bears making homes in the snow on
land instead of on the ice to raise their babies. U. S. Fish and Wildlife
Service biologists began hearing reports of the increasing number of polar
bears in the area in the early 2000s. As more attention was given to the plight
(困境) of polar bears about a decade ago, more tourists started heading
to Kaktovik.
The village had
fewer than 50 visitors annually before 2011, said Jennifer Reed, of the Arctic
National Wildlife Refuge. "Today we're talking about hundreds and hundreds
of visitors, many from around the world each year," Reed said. Most
tourists visit in the fall, when bears are forced toward land because sea ice
is farthest away from the shore. Bruce Inglangasak, a local hunter who
sometimes offers wildlife viewing tours, said he's been offering polar bear
tours since 2004. Most of his clients (客户) are from China and
Europe, as well as from the lower 48 U. S. states. Many tourists stay several
days in the village, which has two small hotels. The villagers have benefited a
lot from that. In turn, they provide more effective protection for polar bears
with financial support from tourism development.
(1)What causes more polar bears to stay on land in Kaktovik
A.Food shortage. B.Climate change.
C.Habitats' movement to shore. D.Their preference for land.
(2)How did common people feel about more sight of bears on land
A.Excited. B.Puzzled. C.Concerned. D.Shocked.
(3)What can be inferred from the last paragraph
A.Hotels in Kaktovik are in demand in autumn.
B.Kaktovik has about 50 visitors annually.
C.Inglangasak makes a living as a tour guide.
D.Tourism affects the balance of nature.
(4)Which saying can describe the text
A.The fittest can survive.
B.After a storm comes a calm.
C.There is always opportunity in crisis.
D.Every coin has two sides.

Everybody has some
goals in life. If you are not acting in a way that will help you achieve those
goals, your confidence may be less.
Take
real action.
Lack of action.
Watching TV isn't an action. Eating isn't an action, too. It can be a side hustle, a hobby . . .
Something that you want! Of course, when you set goals for life, you should be
able to put them together, and make practical goals.
If you aren't proud
of yourself, how can't you be in low spirits. The quickest way to overcome your
situation is to win more often. Both are strong hormones (荷尔蒙) that push you to do more. You'll get more confidence from
winning. This is how you get started — win.
Face
up to true selves.
We should know
ourselves very well and judge ourselves fairly. Instead of thinking about your
own physical imperfections, or always comparing yourself with others'
advantages, you should believe that you have bright spots, and that everyone
has their own strengths and weaknesses. If we would just accept and
trust ourselves, confidence might be much stronger.
A.
A real action is something that you want.
B.
Calm down and think positively.
C.
Keep normal relationships and make more warm hearted friends.
D.
If so, you need to read the following tips.
E.
There is no such thing as a perfect person.
F.
Once you start to win, you will always go for more winning.
G.
High confidence comes with pride.

Nowadays, time
travel is just about everywhere you look, films to TV shows and even
literature. Our society has become obsessed with the idea of traveling through
time.
However, that

only go forward, and only at one speed. In this way, Wells' (create) account transformed the way people
viewed time and time travel.
It was so

tremendous change was in the air. As the (twenty) century dawned, people were becoming

well as scientific (grow) and, for the first time ever, people

3.阅读理解
【答案】(1)D

(3)考查句义猜测。根据画线部分的上文可知,在旅游过程中你要融入新的文化环境,适应新的群体;下文中的“wanderlust… Someone with that needs to leave or travel”表明,有itchy feet的人喜欢旅游,由此可知,本句表示“这样的经历给予作者再一次旅游的强烈渴望”, 故选 A。

4.阅读理解
【答案】(1)B
(2)C
(3)A
(4)D

根据第二段中的“The far north community lies in an area where increasingly higher temperature has sped up the movement of sea ice, the primary habitat (栖息地) of polar bears. As ice has gradually moved to deep water beyond the continental shelf, more bears are remaining on land to look for food.”
根据最后一段中的“Most tourists visit in the fall”;以及“Many tourists stay several days in the village, which has two small hotels”可知,大多数游客会选择在秋季去Kaktovik游览,而且很多游客会在这个小村庄待上几天, 而这个小村庄只有两个小旅馆, 故可推知在秋季,Kaktovik的旅馆很抢手。选A。

Nowadays, time
travel is just about everywhere you look, films to TV shows and even
literature. Our society has become obsessed with the idea of traveling through
time.
However, that
wasn't true just 150 years ago. The gate was opened by H. G. Wells' novel, TheTimeMachine, which (publish) in 1895. In this book, Wells
describes a man who builds a machine that enables him (move) throughout the course of history and
into the future. The story is important because it views time as something (flow).
Before this book
came out, time was (basic) viewed as a one way street. You could
only go forward, and only at one speed. In this way, Wells' (create) account transformed the way people
viewed time and time travel.
It was so
successful largely because it came out at the end of 19th century when
tremendous change was in the air. As the (twenty) century dawned, people were becoming
incredibly excited for the future. It was a period of huge technological as
well as scientific (grow) and, for the first time ever, people
were living in a way that was dramatically different from generation before them.
